ffp was far too late to stop Chelsea. They've had a decade of splurging and splurging, so now it's not an issue. City have also just scraped through it and will be ok now, havnig spend hundreds of millions. Hopefully FFP will now mean that another man city or Chelsea is never created

they have also harvested those young players wages and a loan fee too boot. all in all it only takes a few errors to knock it on its head too.

But i do feel such a system requires a technical director and consistent strategy to do as they changed first team coach 27 times of something.

I do have to wonder what these yougn lads think or if they just get offered way more wages or somthing as the useless f'r they just sent to AC. van Ginkel. 21, signed by chelsea last summer for 8mil... kind of like alberto or ilori, never gets much of a sniff due to injury then out of 25man squad and dumped to AC.

they have 16 players out across europe as of today.

    Christian Atsu
    Ryan Bertrand
    Thorgan Hazard
    Gael Kakuta
    Tomas Kalas
    Milan Lalkovic
    Marko Marin
    Josh McEachran
    Victor Moses
    Kenneth Omeruo
    Mario Pasalic
    Stipe Perica
    Lucas Piazon
    Oriol Romeu
    John Swift
    Bertrand Traore
    Wallace

vitesse benefit to the tune of 3 players, many are in germany and some of the more english names are frankly going nowhere in lower league.

Itsa big big list but little that i can see that would ever play for chelsea. kalas maybe.

Why on earth would a young player jump at chelsea's deal and then spend the next 3/4 year hawking round europe til you are finally sold.

I wonder how many of chelsea's players in last 3/4 years ended up in a better palce than they started out really?

    I don't know.

I looked back to 2012/13 and found on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012–13_Chelsea_F.C._season

in 2012/13 you see the same kind of nams as going out on loan today. perhaps a few have gone up to a better club loan but the only guy i can see is Courtois... like lukaku really didn't join chelsea to end up at everton... no disrespect but he didn't he walso studied his options this summer and wanted CL but no-one came calling.

In short i reckon ok if you get past vitesse and then get a better loan then you prob get a good footballing education and move on but f me... noyl go the Chelsea to be first team... there are plenty of opportunities to play CL without this route.

I'd love to see the long term impact on player careers... very hard to assess really.

  3. Man City were a little late really hence them getting caught up in FFP stuff recently.

As I said though, we may not like how they've done it but you have to appreciate how Chelsea have worked around FFP.

I still think it only takes a couple mistakes to fall off. "stop Chelsea" thats not what its about, but what they are at isn't perhaps the best for football in general (cope has outlined the effect on vitesse of this 3 players in per year) or for the players over the course of their career potential but it is within thier finanaces and only a new rule on maximum number of loans can stop that.

I mean we have 10 out but 3 min if i play nice are purely players we don't want.

update: 2010/11... matic was on loan at vitesse and then they sold him... borini was on loan at swansea... kalas who seems to have lived on loan was with vitesse.... sturridge was at bolton and bertrand was also on loan.

I guess It just shows they've been at it a while but it doesn't make first team players really.... but it might make financial sense

We were there, or there abouts, last January and didn't spend a farthing, other than the flight and hotel fees for Ayre to take a holiday in Ukraine.

I always thought FFP was a device to stop any of the great unwashed clubs from buying their way into Europe's elite while maintaining the status quo of the big clubs. In a way it protects the elite a lot more than it hinders them. It's interesting to see Utd, who have been in with the top dogs since FFP's inception to now be out of the CL for at least one season. They have spent massively this summer to try to force their way back into the elite club and should they qualify for CL, I'd be interested in FFP's take on their activity this summer. I obviously don't know the state of their finances however and I'm sure someone will tell me they are solvent and can easily justify this huge outlay. Cue tobes....

TBH my gut feel is they will be fine for the year, but if they fail to get top 4 this year (oh lord please), then things could start to get messy for them

welll.... yes you are probably right. those who have some by virtue of being say oh ac milan can do one thing and another club who have a smaller gorund or whatever can't compete with that.

don't forget that it levels over 3 seasons and i'd love to see how it will work for ac milan too.

its not about utd... say a bilionaire buys west ham when they move to olympic stadium and get a free massive ground.... are they allowed to suddently have 500mil for players?

United will be fine. They're allowed (iirc) 30mill losses over a three year period - but that may be slightly off. Whilst they've spent a tonne net this summer, they're still one of the biggest brands in the world and have huge sponsorship deals, never mind the new PL TV deal which already negates the loss of CL football on its own. A few more years out of the CL and the wages will start to worry them as sponsorships lower, but they're fine for now. No FFP to worry about.

If we're not going to be in CL next season... (definitely not certain at this point) - we may need to hold back spending too much- we don't want to do a Leeds or a Man Utd (oops revealed myself as a time traveler) and go bankrupt spending money assuming we'll do well.

  17. We won't gamble anyway. FSG will only allow us to spend what we have. I said this last season. Getting into the CL would allow us to possibly attract better players (if we'd chosen to go for them) but it wouldn't see us spending more until we'd been in the competition as no money had been generated.

Slightly ridiculous comment, wouldn't you say? Net spend means everything, unless you're bankrolled by a billionaire and there is no FFP
