Why is LVG not getting the same sort of stick that Moyes got?

10 games - 13 points. Shocking. Not one single away win.

1 point worse off than last season, despite £150 million spent.

    Squad ridiculously unbalanced

Even Moyes couldn't have made just a wonderful **** up of a start were he given the same sort of funds. And let's not forget the very kind fixture list for us

LVG needs to pull his ****ing finger out

He will very likely pull his ****ing finger out <ok>

By the look of things he will take longer than anticipated to get things right. It may take 6 months or even 12 months - with more millions spent. There is no way the club will sack him soon and would rather give him another £150m.

Well said. Finally a fan that says it like it is.

These fans are few and far between these days, as most have their tongue firmly placed up Van Gaal's ring piece.

At no point did moyes have any clue what he was doing. Not once did we look good on the pitch. There is a clear direction here and the last two games have shown how far we gave come in such a short period. Last season we would have been pasted by both chelsea and city but this time we can feel disappointed to have only taken one.

Its still a work in progress. van gaal missed a trick not signing a quality centre back but we havent been all that bad truth be told. Take the Leicester game away and its a goal a game against. Not shocking.

We are rebuilding. Its taking longer than expected but the positives are there in every game now. It's almost right.

Not once did i see any hope under moyed.

I can see both sides of the coin.

It's a very valid question as for the money we've shelled out we really should be in a far better position than we actually are and Moyes got dreadful **** having not really been given any money before his season started. He was also told, often, that he had a team of champions yet it's generally accepted that van Gaal has a rubbish squad that needed refreshing.

That said, there is a definite sign of improvement of late so I can see why he's been given a fair bit of leeway. Big few games coming up though, no excuses if we also lose to the likes of Palace and Stoke like we already have to Leicester and Swansea. And the fact we've no centre halves is completely van Gaal's fault as it's not as if he didn't know that both Vidic and Ferdinand had just left the club when he took over. He could quite easily have spent some money on a centre half or two, even if they were available stop gaps. Even getting someone of experience like Joleon Lescott would improve us at a stroke.

It`s not all about points or league position at this stage of the season for us (or you lot), it`s about the way the team is playing, if they`re improving and if there is reason for optimism. That is why we are backing LVG and you lot are calling for Brendans head <ok>

Under Moyes we would have lost by 4 or 5 today. Then again he didn't have 150million to spend. Then again he didn't have to deal with the ludicrous amount of injuries to one part of the team (already the weakest part) that LVG has had to deal with.

In conclusion, it's almost impossible to compare them.

We do need Falcao to get himself fit though as RVP is a passenger.

Lets say we push on and win at least 20 of the remaining matches. Should see us into the top 4 and isnt too unlikely. Just have to continue playing as we are.

We won't need to win anything like that number of games to finish top 4. It's a truly **** league this season. Chelsea are going to win it at a canter, City second some way off from Chelsea, third and fourth a distance away from City.

He bought one to replace the two (who had shared the job for the whole of last season) and could have had no idea that Jones, Smalling and Evans would miss most of the first 3 months. He has promoted Blackett and McNair to the first team and i am more than happy with either of them providing they have an experienced partner. This leaves us with three good centre backs Evans, Jones and Rojo, two very good back-ups McNair and Blackett and one decent back-up Smalling. I really hope the penny drops with Smalling because he has the speed, height and ball skills to become a vry good centre back but at the moment i would have him trailing the other five.

It's fair to say we're playing for third and fourth with Arsenal, Southampton and, at an absolute push, Liverpool. Spurs aren't good enough and I don't think Everton are either, quite. That's assuming City get second and on the evidence of today that is far from certain, of not unlikely.

We've still got a big chance then as Liverpool are ****ing gash and we could well beat both Arsenal and Saints in the coming weeks.

Could lose to both too of course!

We also need a back-up for Rafael, we have not had any other rightback since Neville left and Rafa is prone to cards and injury because of his fearless style.

A bit of generalisation going on from a couple of you - I'm not caling for Rodgers head. In fact quite the opposite, I want him to stay and he has my backing 100%.

He's a young manager and just needs to learn from his mistakes. But he has my support, even if we're going through a tough time. You have to take the rough with the smooth, and once he starts learning - we all know he's capable of getting his teams to play exciting football.

Yes it's not quite clicking yet - but I'm a long way off from 'calling for his head' <ok>

You missed the bit in brackets off
So, do you think we need more than six centre backs in the squad then or do you think the young lads should be kicked back down to the U21`s. Maybe you don`t rate Evans, who has been good enough for the last six years or Jones, who at 20 is better than most at that age (including Rio and Vidic).

I admire your optimism mate. But you simply don't have the steel to grind out results when playing badly. An example of this is the West Brom game. The Utd of the past would have found a way to get the 3 points. The Utd of today lack that ability. So suggesting you'll win 20 of the remaining games is pretty ludicrous!!

It's a valid question, especially given the investment that Van Gaal has had the benefit of

However. I think anyone who's watched United of late would see a side that's improving. Today they were the better side until the sending off and even with 10 men could have grabbed a draw late on.

Under Moyes there was never a sense of improvement, he never had control of the job imo, as he was never comfortable with it and neither were the players with him

I think Van Gaal will get it right at United, whether it's ultimately good enough is a different question, but he'll produce a winning side.

We need experience mate. Leaders. We lost two in summer and they were replaced by one unknown.

Evans, Jones and Smalling will never provide that, they are all destined to become a junior partner in a centre half partnership. I rate both Evans and Jones but they need someone good alongside them calling the shots.
