A Somerset legend - my old man loved Acker and waxed lyrical about the 3Bs - Acker Bilk, Chris Barber and Kenny Ball who he saw at the Old Duke on several occasions.

    RIP me old acker <rose>

Your old man had good taste, I've actually had the pleasure of Kenny Ball and Acker Bilks company, Chris Barber was also a hero of mine, all class acts, like your dad, memories to all of them...<ok>

Had the pleasure of seeing him play locally 4 years ago in Exmouth. Took my Dad, who loved him and passed away himself later that year. Will always have quite an affection for that night.

I don't want to bleat on but I used to see these guys regularly at the Duke, the Ship which used to be on Redcliffe Hill , the Bell Inn and Octagan Club in Bath, I recently ( 5-10 years) used to go to the Crown Inn in Hambrook, ( Landlord is a convinced "gashead") and listen to the Frampton Valley Foot Stompers...

    Great times, great JAZZ..

Formerly a favourite drinking spot of mine - I know the pub and a succession of landlords, I think the current incumbent is Martin - when I was a teenager growing up in Frenchay my first bar job was at the Crown. Seen the Footwarmers there too.

What wandering paths we weave Wiz....

Football might divide us, but good to see we can all get on where great music is concerned. Nice touch

Never been a lover of jazz, but always marvelled at his ability with the clarinet - a truly beautiful sound. RIP Acker

Whenever I tell anyone about my Somerset roots I hear one of two things without a hitch and that is cider and Acker Bilk. Never was a fan of cider but Acker Bilk was one of ours and added to having a Somerset heritage

R.I.P. Acker and thanks for the wonderful memories.

Acker Bilk used to drink regularly in the Rising sun and George and Dragon in Pensford, I used to see him in there quite often up to recently as I have friends who live down there.

    RIP old fella..

I saw him play at the "Slow & Dirty" at Radstock train sheds many, many years ago when I was a young lad. Those were the days...........
