No, the only thing you can infer from his answer to the question is exactly what he said. Foreign people. He never said anything about non-whites, that was just in his opening remark about corner shop owners. Why couldn't "those from abroad who speak funny" include white people? There certainly are white people from abroad who speak funny. There's no actual link between his statement about non-whites and his statement about foreigners, that's just a link you've invented. Therefore ignorant and a wind-up, but not racist and not really worth commenting on with any consternation. Anyway... How did the white boy come out of the grocery store with a six pack? Well I mostly know Scottish ones but Sarah Boyack, Margo MacDonald and Robin Harper (now retired) are/were very good and conscientious politicians. Even David McLetchie is a decent bloke even though he's a Tory. And the worst thing that happened to Gordon Brown was getting power hungry and becoming PM at the wrong time. He is a hugely intelligent man and people forget all the work he did to rid the third world of the colossal debt as well as a huge amount of corruption (which still exists of course.)
