Wes isn't that slow really. He did play right back for England on numerous occasions. Since when did playing a back 4 mean you weren't trying to win the game? With Jones injured I'd prefer to see Wes there than Santi. You can still have a very attacking left full back, even if Wes doesn't get beyond the midfield.
I know, centuries ago. He feels his knee playing in a more static position, yeah, let's put him where wide men are going have him twisting and turning for 90 minutes. With 4 fit defenders is it really worth the risk?
Yes he is, he's shockingly slow, His reading of the game gives him the extra yard. He's a slow cb let alone a fullback. As for your question, I've never suggested any such thing, my point is attacking options, width and balance, taking into consideration Poyet won't change the system. If you haven't noticed, we've become quite predictable only attacking effectively down the left.
I am in agreeement with the Funk here, we need a quick right back, to balance the side, Mavrias in until Jones is back, I also prefer Vergini to Brown in the center long term, but am not sure about this next game to be honest, as I think it will be a right battle.
He's all I can think of who could work, It might not even work, Suppose Seb could do it. He's got the engine to run a flank on his own but not the pace. Ultimately If I was Gus I'd change the system but he won't do that.
Who's going to deal with Zaha/Bolasi better, Wes or Mavrias/Seb??!! There are 6 players ahead of them to create chances, seven if we assume PVA will get forward a lot. I'd be quite happy for AJ to provide the width here, rather than risk a defensively suspect player in a key position.
Honestly, not Wes, he'll get turned inside out and probably pop his knee, the twisting need for that position would make it an unnecessary risk considering we've only 4 fit defenders. All about opinions though init, at the end of the day it's going to be Vergini at rb anyway.
I would have much more faith in Wes than Vergini defensively. I see your faith in h has dwindled and I must admit he's been poor recently. He's still the main man though, IMO. Neither offer anything offensively but that's just the way it goes when injuries hit. Hopefully Rev will be up to speed and be a real option soon
I think Wes is still the best cb we've got, he's always been prone to mistakes through his career, nowt's changed. Apparently Rev has kept himself extremely fit, only problem it's been on the treadmill.
They need players like Bentake too, they're relegation rivals like. Don't like them me, hope to god the go down.
3 game ban looming, i dont really care who's in the bottom 3 come may, so long as 1 of them is not us
