Full time 1-1 This game has shown how much we need Igor to be fit. And that we need to sign another striker. Look forward to hearing from those who were there.
Fair result. Two sides just about good enough to stay clear of the relegation battle. Addicks awful first half but much better with Vetokele and Gudmundsson on. Tucudean a waste of space throughout and Moussa little better. At least Ahearne-Grant tried.
First half was just dire, was so so bad. Their goal, Grant lost it and someone should have taken him out on the half way line, but taking nothing away from the finish. 2nd half was annoying, simply because, why can't we play like that all 90 minutes? Was superb, and although Igor gets all the plaudits, Wiggins was the reason we scored, a great run and cross-cum-shot. In the end a bit gutted with a draw but at half time I'd have jumped at the chance of a draw. IF we play like the 2nd half for 90 minutes rather than at 1-0 down this could be a good season Henderson - 6 - Did nothing at all apart from pick it out back of the net, not his fault, just Wednesday hardly had a shot at goal. Solly - 7 - Superb, great defensively and attacking, will never connect with a shot that well again. Bikey - 6 - Awfully lucky not to give a pen and constantly out of position, still dominated in the air, even against someone much bigger than him. TBH - 6 - Iffy and as I've said all season accident waiting to happen. Wiggins - 8 - Thought he was solid at the back and constantly running down the line, didn't see him passing it side ways of back too often, and his assist was brilliant. Cousins - 6 - Didn't do much but what he did no complaints. Jacko - 7 - Captain fantastic still, stuck in and completely committed, can't name him doing something wrong really. Buyens - 7 - Very good at breaking up the Wednesday play and confident on the ball, got stuck in but seen him do better. Moussa - 5 - Didn't even notice him, not going to lie Tucudean - 6 - Someone in there is a footballer, somewhere, and caught the odd glimpse, sadly too often he miss kicked a pass or a control. Ahearne-Grant - 4 - Sorry to the lad, but judged on that, he's not ready to step up yet, go back to the u21s but don't take too much to heart like Piggott did. Subs Gudmundsson - 7 - Creativity we need in midfield, is so calm and class on the ball, even when surrounded by defenders, someof his touches were just out of this world. Igor - 7 - Scored and gave us some urgency, hopefully he's fit and can start again soon. Wilson - 6 - Did well what he did but wasn't really on long enough to do anything of note.
Starting a Championship game with the combined might of Tucadean, KAG and Moussa is starting to look like a bit of indictment of RD's tenure to date. A truly shocking, s**te forward line. What has happened to Jordan Cousins? He looks like he is playing in a pair of Dutch clogs. He must have lost possession 20 times. We are a team that s staggeringly reliant on Ben Haim's class (MOM today) and Igor's goals. Buyens reminds me of Cloughie's famous quote...."he floats like a butterfly, and stings like one, too" Second half was better, but the team looks to be running on empty in so many areas. Mid table at best. Maybe lower without decent signings in January.
I thought Bikey had a stinker, the decision to offload Morro seems bizarre. It's clear also that KAH has been brought into the team too soon, however thin our squad is. Igor was the hero of the hour, but my MOM was Jacko, played with the enthusiasm of a teenager, great example. I wish I hadn't noticed Moussa, like Ted. He plays with his head down and I don't see him improving. Great to see Wiggins getting back to top form. George tried hard all game, but without Igor we'd never have scored. Gudmundsson makes a difference, must keep him fit.
Second half we were superb first half average as were wednesday. Second half wednesday obviously sat back played into our hands and took off their one decent player. Worst player on the pitch Semedo by a mile .
Funny how different people see games; I didn't notice Jackson touch the ball other than taking corners. His missed lunge before he came off was about 14 yards off the pace.
Nice for me to post on a match I was at! The first half was'nt dire, but we were. Every time Wednesday ran at us, we looked like rabbits caught in headlights. KAG may well develope into agreat player, the potential is there but at seventeen, he's a bit lightweight as yet. Still, I think it's good he's getting minutes. I did'nt think their players injury was the fault of Buyens, and from the reaction of their players, neither did they. Second half, we bought on Guddmundsson and the music changed. We pushed harder and harder, Cousins ran his socks off, Solly's decision making improved, and finally Wiggins did a delightfull run into the box and served Igor up with a goal on a plate. Could have gone either way after that. They had thankfully taken off Drenthe, Muhiu had a goodish shout for a penalty turned down ( though for a big geezer, he went down very easily), we had one chalked off for offside. In the end, the second half helped to erase the first a bit, good game and fair result. Vetokele needs Kermogant or similar up front. With that he may go wild. Apart from that, can we get Poyet back on loan, as the Hampsters won' t use him, and we could in our midfield.
CAFC Ted- TBH iffy? What game were you watching. You are allowing your prejudice to cloud your judgement. He was our man of the match by a country mile. Those runs forward were superb, covered well at the back. I thought Buyens was calm in possession and Jackson had a decent game, but our problems remain the same. Tucudean, Moussa not good enough. KAG not ready and could hamper his development by playing him too early. Without Igor we struggle to score goals. Also Gudmundsson brings a bit of creativity to the team. It is absolutely vital that these two stay fit. We still need to bring in a box to box midfielder and a centre forward who can hold the ball up.
He was good with his runs but I felt sometimes he was a bit fortunate to get away with it, poor passes to people when marked by 2 players, and sometimes missing headers. But that was just my opinion, funny ol' game this, both of us can watch the same but get completely different opinions.
TBH does know when to get forward and when to stay back, unlike Bikey, who left a big hole in the defense whenever he comes forward. TBH's shaky moments come when he overdoes it trying to pass the ball out of defense, and about once a game he gets away with it. Bikey should stay back and only come up for set pieces. Against Fulham Bob threw him forward for the last 10 minutes, and it seems to have gone to his head!
Laughable to even consider digging out Ben Haim...our most consistent and effective performer this season by a country mile. Bloody hell, if there is some stick to be dished out...what about the likes of Cackadean and Useless Moussa?
I can understand Tucudean getting picked, we haven't got anyone else, but Moussa? No- don't know what Bob sees in him. The Harriotts weren't even on the bench yesterday, even with Bulot injured, so there does seem to be a bit of favouritism here. Not that Bulot is any more effective than Moussa, but Bob praising Bulot after the Fulham game as "one of our best players" seemed odd.
There's no doubt whatsoever that TBH and Bikey have been an absolute revelation this season. However, having seen the highlights of yesterday the blame for the Wednesday goal lays solely at Bikey's feet. There was no reason for him to venture so deep into midfield in an attempt to win the ball. Anyone who's ever played the game at decent level will know that as a CB you keep your shape and defend the danger. The danger clearly wasn't so far up the pitch it was in the area Bikey had abandoned. If a midfielder slips his man and rifles one in from 25/30 yards fair play to him. At the end of the day as a defender you play the percentages and can't legislate for that happening. All in all I'm more than happy with TBH and Bikey (especially Bikey), and I'll put this mistake down to a rare error or judgement.
Missed the last 3 home games for various reasons, went to fulham last week and found it scary how unthreatening we look from open play without Vetokele. Going to Leeds on tuesday, hoping he starts or that'll be £39 to watch Charlton nil.
It is funny how we all see a different game I can't stand TBH for his past history but he has been excellent for us and thought decent yesterday too . Bikey always a beast and entertaining .the only difference between us and them first half was the geezer who scored their goal the rest were no better than us... Both poor. We have been spoilt of late and overachieved this season.
