At the beginning of the season I would have said yes with no hesitation. Now I'm not so sure. I suspect we're looking overseas again. There's that chappie from Palermo, who is meant to be some kind of new Messi.

Of course, there's always Messi. If he's upto a challenge of actually having to try. :)

    isn't he the new aguero?

problem is he's got little in common with aguero's scoring record at his age.

at least he's not the Uruguayan aguero

No, I definitely heard he was the new Messi. Thing is, he might be so like Messi that he won't like to come to a competitive league where he's made to look a little more ordinary. :)

i know that comment was tongue in cheek, but it so infuriating that people genuinely don't think messi is the best player in the world just because he hasn't played in the premier league.

you mean that it's infuriating they don't recognize it's because ronaldo is just better?

thinking ronaldo is better is fair enough, though I disagree personally. But the reasoning shouldn't be that messi hasn't played in the premier league, it's really not that much better than la liga.

i think it's because a liverpool substitute made him look s**te.

not sure of the relative quality of each league. osvaldo coped with spain, but not england.

Of course it was, but I would genuinely like to see more of Messi. And Ronaldo come to that. Let them come [back] to the Premier League. I'd like to see them perform the magic week in, week out.

    Tadic needs some competition. :)

Our biggest problem is that whilst the first two on that list are pretty much definitely what we need (last is only a maybe due to Jay) they are both back up positions.

As Liverpool and spurs have found signing clear back ups just bloats the squad and doesn't increase competition sufficiently.

Loans until the end of the season. Also seeing if we can find someone who can cover pelle's position and the other attacking one (can Kane do this? what is his hold up and wide play like. Sakho would have been perfect as he can play out right)

Goalkeeper is the real struggle. It is difficult to sign back ups without offering large wages. Especially when a clear first choice was signed in the previous window. I can't recall a club ever signing a goalkeeper in two successive windows

If that happens we will still be ahead so I wouldn;t complain too much. If that is how our pre-Christmas results against last seasons top 4 clubs I will be delighted

I think we should make a bid for Raheem Sterling in the January window.

I am sure he would come to us and we should be able to pick him up as a bargain as he only plays for a mediocre mid table team.

I am sure he would want to play for a top side playing in Europe next year.

We should be able to get him for around £4m but I would initially offer only £2m and then drive a hard bargain from there.

He wont be able to turn down a top club like us.
