As will all youth that show potential under BR, will feature in another cup game ir two, spend next season loaned out then sold the season after. Flanno only had a chance due to injury in the squad otherwise was on his way out.
Thats not true. He came in to replace Cissokho for a huge game against Arsenal whilst Cissokho was fit to play.
Unfortunately this isn't far from the truth. Why are spending £20m on players for the future to be used as squad players? Use the youth, spend the money who is going to make an impact now. We'd better be one hell of s team in 5yrs time or we'll have wasted a **** load of money (like we haven't already )
Okay so im pedantically corrected on a minor point but the bigger point I was raising has again been missed!!! Are we unable to bring lads from Liverpool through the ranks anymore? No wonder we are buying over priced, under performing English players and unknown failures from Europe.
Its not just a Liverpool thing its all over the country. But things are improving. 10 years ago no one was coming through, but Rafa and Dalglish invested a lot of time and money into improving the academy. The academy does seem to be a lot better, but it could be 10 years until we see a result with local Liverpool young players as kids often join academies aged 8-13. We have to be patient and realistic. Its impossible to get instant results when investing in an academy. At least we are still scouting out quality young talent like Wisdom, Sterling, Ibe and Ilori.
Rafa's legacy is the academy - he did a great job on rebuilding this and we're beginning to reap the benefits.
