Or just learn where to click, If you stop clicking on "sexy Russian singles" Imaz or ANY update advice from sites that are "Dark", in short, anything in the flash window you're viewing should just be closed by clicking the small grey "x", never the big red "X"

Common sense really. Use em all the time and never had any issues.

Ad blocker stops lots of annoying pop ups, good stuff, triffic.

Cheers Imaz. Its gotten so bad now that on the Beeb footie page I can't watch Harry's post match comments. I can watch the same videos on Youtube no problem though.

Rhino, I heard Add Blocker can slow down the responsiveness of loading links and changing websites etc. Dunno if that's bullsh*t or not but the last thing I need is for the whole operation to slow down to a crawl. Maybe I should just get a Mac like Oddball suggested

    Or get a 'Chromebook.' ..... http://www.google.co.uk/chrome/devices/features/

It's as cheap as chips and everytime you switch it on it's even better than when you first bought it. It can't get viruses and starts up in seconds. It's ideal for being on here or browsing the web. It's not great for computing though, and I can't play online poker on it., but other than that it's brilliant.

    Gives you peace of mind.....
Virus protection built in. No annoying updates. Chromebooks run Chrome OS, an operating system that’s fast, simple and secure.

Chromebook updates itself, for free. So you always have the latest and greatest version. No need for manual downloads and upgrades.

    Built-in protection...
Virus protection, multiple layers of security and verified boot help keep you safe from viruses, malware and other computer nasties.

    Keeps your files safe..
With Google Drive built in, your files and photos are automatically backed up. You get 100 GB of storage, for free*, with all new Chromebooks.

Chromebooks are fast, easy to use and great for everyone in your life who could use a computer.

All this for less than £200.

I'm glad to hear it UTR's. For the money they're great value.

I would love to change my username and disassociate myself from the fire service, I've really had enough of it. It is truly a **** job. Seventeen months to go and I can finally retire from it.

I have found that the streaming services I use are no problem as long as you never click straight away on the flash or HTML 5 banner ads ... Let them execute and run for 60 seconds
Make no attempt to move your mouse or use a tap on screen touch devices

They are full of hotspots which execute new scripts and links u

Carefully close them using the correct close buttons then go full screen

I run only macs and use little snitch as I have done for many years it monitors the traffic both ways on your connection and custom blocks everything you don't want or need to know about ... Over the last 5 years or more it is amazing to see how much this traffic has risen

Reset your browsers every day if you can and experiment with your set ups as defaults are very well known to the program makers of course

I find it very difficult to understand the logic of the windows operating system as from day one on a new machine you seem to need first aid forever

Only had one small worm in 24 years the OS has always been too robust IMO. To write a mac virus is a much bigger challenge

The only reason viruses are on the rise is because there are more macs

I use an Android TV box, available on Amazon or eBay, and it just streams it direct to my TV. I store no data on it, so even if it gets a virus it won't adversely affect it, and you can reload the OS to get rid of anything.

Also has all latest films and tv shows, all subscription free, for a one-off payment of £50-60
