You can't compare the two papers. The Guardian is maybe a bit more lefty, but not as far down the scale as the Daily Mail is on the other side. It's only the Comments section at the end that goes a bit far, but you can't compare George Monbiot to that ****wit Littlejohn <yikes>

It's not though. The news section is very well written, and the authors attempt to stay as neutral as possible in their presentation of the facts. It's the best broadsheet by far, in presentation and in content. Their crosswords are good too, and they have Steve Bell, one of the funniest cartoonists ever imo. <ok>

I like The Daily Mail and at 2.50 euros it is a bargain.

I prefer the times, mainly because they don't seem to just make up speculation like many other papers do and because they often have a section that is environmental related (my area of interest).

It's still better than The Sun - the paper for thick perverts with a reading age of 12.

Can't believe so many people still buy that paper, and they actually believe the transfer rumours it comes up with <doh>

The only real newspaper these days is The Telegraph.

The Telegraph is for old, retired generals who still dream of sticking one up the fuzzy wuzzies.

In terms of the sports pages only, the Daily Mail's Martin Samuel and Des Kelly are my favourites.

Henry Winter in the Telegraph is an arse. So is Brian Moore.

The Sunday Times sports coverage is first class, but I rarely read it since it went behind a paywall.

The Guardian has a very good sports section, but they have a bird who writes for them (typically progressive, the smug gits) and she doesn't know what she's talking about. Not her fault, it's just that she's a girl. Be like me writing a column on shoes or something.

James Lawton in the Independent is good.

Jimbo, easy answer become a teacher, you could start at the primary were I work and look after the 6 year old who when he can't have his own way, throws chairs, tables, kicks, punches, bites and spits at staff. then deal with the brain dead morons who bring the kids to school. You would also find that the working week is about 60 hours and it's 12 weeks holidays, much of it spent in school, especially primary schools where it's much more hands on not just marking.
I am not a teacher just the caretaker who knows how long they work as I open and close the school. I would only last about 3 mins as a teacher and the last 2 of them would be waiting for the police to arrest me, as I would end up killing one of the little bastards

Jimbo, I am a civil servant. I shall got not get a pay rise this year. Those that do will get 250 pound extra a year.
Overall of course I shall get a pay cut because of extra pension cost and no pay rise to pay for the increased cost of living.
You need to know the facts not just what newspapers want to tell you.
