to be fair a prime jones will be held in higher regard than calzaghe. maybe some of the catastrophic fights hes been involved in lately might leave a smudge on his great legacy, but he was someone who beat the best in their prime. he wasnt just a show off, he KO'd 2/3 of his opponents, so he clearly had not just his ridiculous speed but a lot of power to boot. he should have retired after the first tarver fight, and definitely after the trinidad scrap.
Oh dear! I'm not even going to enter an argument about something you clearly haven't got the ****in' foggiest about!
Yeah, okay. You're right about everything so there seems very little point for you to come on to a discussion board. Why don't you set up your own site and you can tell yourself that Andy Murray is ****e at tennis because he hates England (then later retract it), how you're an expert at boxing and how much you hate Andy Murray because he's Scottish.
Aah, you mean he's offered an opinion you agreed with so he must be right. And with no respect to jordan at all who I'm sure likes his boxing who is he to give a definitive answer that cannot be argued with?
my word is the bible, didnt you know nah, difference of opinion is what its about. some folks think lewis would beat tyson in their primes, others dont etc etc
You,as well as everyone that can still see the thread knows it wasn't about me thinking he's a prick 'cos he's Scottish and hates England. i made reference to certain things later on,yeah. But you're now just choosing to pick out the bits that suit your argument! As for this thread, don't make comments like you did when you clearly haven't got a ****ing clue. Simple.
**** sake Stereo Calzaghe wasn't half the fighter Jones was. Calzaghe picked his fights better than his punches.
This, exactly what anyone with a smudge of knowledge about Boxing would agree with, In my opinion he is in the Top 10 of all time a truly skilled fighter, Calzaghe was good but if they both met in their primes Jones would have destroyed him.
That's your opinion and that's fine. It never ceases to amaze how easily people are bought with a bit of glamour and the old American shiny shiny. I'm not saying he wasn't a good fighter (I haven't throughout this thread note). All I said is he wouldn't be in the top ten of all time as was claimed by PrestonBear.
In the Boxing News magazine they have him ranked number 9 of all time.......and I know it's you putting the tags up CapitalBhoy
For me Calzaghe was no more than a decent pro who picked his fights well and made himself a shed load of money. Jones was a class act in his prime, quick and hard with the glamour thrown in for good measure. He would have embarrassed Calzaghe in his prime and taking the fight when he did showed how shrewd Joe and his management were. He has beating Jones on his CV when in their prime he wouldn't have laid a glove on him.
I'm not saying you're wrong because it really all comes down to personal opinion, however yours is wrong.
