What a refreshing game today,Oldham came, played football, and gave us a game. A fantastic advert for league 1. Lee Johnson has put a quality side together on a shoe string,we deserved the win, and look like a side who will win the league,Oldham certainly are the best side to come to the gate and are alongside M.K Dons. However we are top of the league for a reason,we controled the game, and should have been out of site in the first half, but fair play to Oldham they kept us out. They also had a good period in the second half, but we deserved the win and extend our lead at the top as all the top sides lost. Fantastic performance from the whole team onwards and upwards
Came out after cotts was the last person to come out the tunnell, seemed ages before he came out,got a excellent responce from the crowd right up to the dug out.
PLAYING A TEAM LIKE OLDHAM actually has all the ingriedients to base the season so far and give us an idea of the strength of the league, I would say LGE 1 this season is about a 8 US, and MKD are about 8.5 and peterbro, sheff about 7.5 and a whole host of others around 6 ( last season I would say the lge was about 8.5 and we finished as a team around 6)
One cracking game of football and two very good football teams slugging it out without any maliciousness. A superb advert for League One football. Every parent with a child who is interested in football should take them to see the teams at top of League One and forget the Prem. Home grown players with tons of skill, pace and above all a commitment to teamwork and togetherness as a team. On today's performance both clubs deserve promotion to a higher echelon.
Here here what a fantastic advert for league 1 ,really looking forward to the next three games, will sort the men from the boys
Could argue that Oldham possibly deserved a point. Their fans were amazing I was disappointed that when Freeman was holding his Hamstring that he wasn't subbed. I thought Wilbs looked tired again yesterday and JET might have made an impact had he come on sooner.
Once again we ground out a result against a good team. We have developed the winning habit. Long may it continue. We have some excellent technically gifted players. Yesterdays results all went our way. Staying unbeaten in November will help maintain the gap.Having said that I must confess leaving 5 minutes before the end as I was convinced we were going to blow it but a welcome clean sheet was deservedly achieved
the most important bit yesterday was the clean sheet, Oldham away are a tight team, and although don't score to many could maybe have gained an advantage we wouldn't recover from!
If we remain unbeaten in November then I'm pretty sure we'll be going up through automatics this year!
I thought that are boys defended from the back through the team to the front well. Bring on the Swindon which i think will be the hardest of the next three games.
Took this from OTIB, cracking assessment from a Oldham fan. Just back from the game after a long train and tram journey home. I have very mixed feelings about today. I think on another day we could have easily got a point and possibly 3. Neither side really created that much. You started very well, the way you pressed us high up the pitch was very impressive from the off. A high work rate and the ball out to the left, spreading the play was a tactic, one which worked well. Despite your early dominance we only went up the field twice and nearly scored twice. Ibhere should have done better after a Mills break. As the half went on, we got more on top without creating much. I never felt worried that you would score from open play.... but good sides punish mistakes and you did. I haven't seen the foul for the free kick, it looked dodgy, but we are a long way away. You scored just as we started to look like the side on top. We had just started to frustrate your fans, but as I say, good sides get through that. We then dominated possession, without really doing much. For latics James Wilson was excellent and our left back Mills had the beating of your right back every time. We should have used that more. For you guys, Ayling was very good, but I was most impressed with you as a team rather than individually. The work rate was top class and extremely organised. A lot of huffing and puffing from both sides, but you got the goal. Best of luck for the season
I think we let ourselves get too down on certain results of our own. We beat Coventry and yet they beat Peterborough next game. We drew with Barnsley (maybe luckily) but they went on to beat Sheffield Utd on Saturday. So it was a point gained at Barnsley, not 2 dropped. Bradford grabbed a point off us, but took all 3 off Milton Keynes at home, who are in 3rd place at the moment. Remain cool calm and collected. The other teams around us will continue to take points off each other. Providing we don't lose this season, we will be promoted.
