I know it's stupid to say but does anybody want champions league next season? We'd need to buy more and look at what that has done to Liverpool.
I am beginning to get ahead of myself. Could someone just bring me down to earth with a stern warning about possible injuries, or the tough month or so ahead. I know you will gets loads of flack, but I am becoming tempted to wear these damn sandals to work and then people really will start to talk.
Liverpool isn't bad because they are in Champions League and bought players. They are bad because they lost Suarez, and then Rodgers lost his mind and made terrible transfers and has no tactics.
Can interviewers discover another question. 'Ronald, are you surprised how well your new players have settled in?'
With games against Leicester and Villa up next, its really hard not to start dreaming! Bring on Man City at home, that will tell us a lot about where we finish.
Headlines on BBC Online..."Chelsea stretch lead over City to nine points" Sorry have I missed something? Are City second? Cheeky Ba*tards
Get into Champion's League and it will be easier to keep players and attract them. Long way to go though...
Anyone see the stupid interviewer asking Jose about being nine points clear. Jose said " no we are four points ahead of southampton who win win win" - respect jose ( albeit probably a dig at the big clubs)
Yeah, I do. What a coup for the whole club that would be and would stir things up rather nicely amongst the media. Not that I think we are going to though.
As people have said above, Liverpool only got to the position they did because of Suarez and seemingly made no attempt to replace him. Or if their Plan A was Alexis Sanchez they had no plan B or C. In addition they have inflated their squad with over priced players who are not significant improvements on what they already had (including the 3 from us). New signing should primarily fill two functions: - Replace any players you have lost (sale , long term injury etc) - Improve on what you already have moving the existing player down the pecking order Liverpool failed to do this on almost all counts apart from (maybe) Moreno. But even he isn't started in all games (he wasn't played against Real) Spurs are another. All their signing are backup players and this will lead to discontent in the long run Our signings were all forced replacements apart from Forster who was signed as an upgrade to Boruc (with the intention being for him to shift to second choice. So we fulfilled the two rules I mentioned above
I am as realistic as most fans...we know injuries and suspensions would hit us harder than the richer sides, but I find it amusing to dream of us plugging away quietly over the whole season. At what point would the press consider us contenders? We can dream .
I said last year that without Suarez we were a better side than Liverpool and that Rodgers was clueless and had zero tactical knowledge.....And I will continue to repeat this as many of this board mocked me and said Rodgers was a decent manager. I have no fear of that situation happening to Saints. It isn't the transfers that are Liveprool's problem, it is the manager. Gerrard out and Henderson in his role. Use Coutinho Sterling and Lallana as a floating 3 behind Balotelli / Sturridge / Lambert. Those four given licence to roam. Buy a decent leader to go with Lovren. Buy a decent keeper. There is no excuse for Liverpool not scoring many with the players Rodgers has. Does matter that their defence is bad but they should not be losing without scoring. Today - 63% possession, 6 shots attemped!!!!!!!! And to add to the 'we were better than them last season if they didn't have Suarez, that was the old Saints team and we are even better now. + I have money on Saints to win the league, finish 2nd, top 4 and top 6 so I will continue to will them on each week
I find it bloody rude that we get ignored because we are not a traditional big club. As a journalist, you surely respond to the situation and not just the history. Saying Chelsea are 9 clear is ridiculous.
