Do you look upon it as a bit of a laugh, or do you take this kind of things really serious, and throw the book at them? A woman has been banned from driving for two years for towing a man in a wheelchair around a supermarket car park. Maria Adams, 20, drove her Nissan Juke outside Tesco in Roker, Sunderland, as her friend gripped a towel hanging from the boot. Security cameras captured her driving up and down as the man sped behind in the wheelchair, which was owned by the store for customer use. After several minutes, he climbed out of the chair as astonished shoppers looked on. He then got into the car and Adams, a call centre worker, from Whitburn, South Tyneside, drove off. Judge Penny Moreland at Newcastle Crown Court described her actions as "a piece of stupidity". Adams admitted dangerous driving and was ordered to pay £1,369 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge. She was also given a four-month curfew and a 12-month community order. The real stupidity was doing this where they did it (with CCTV), and using the supermarket's wheelchair. When I was young and daft (as opposed to old and daft now) a mate passed his driving test and bought an old banger. After having a bit of fun in the snow on Cleadon Hills we decided to carry on by being towed along the road behind the car while sitting on rubber car mats. Fantastic fun until the car stopped with the assistance of brakes but my face continued at 30mph towards the rear bumper.
used to love the snow, cars going really slowly around corners, then pounce...grab a hold of their bumpers, and away we go...
Nowt wrong with doing it on private land, somewhere where the only person who could be hurt are the driver and wheelchair user!
One of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time, but they're probably a bit embarrassed by it now, especially in front of the beak. One of my mates got done for speeding and was told not to drive to Court as it was likely he wouldn't have his license when he left. He was sat in the Magistrates Court feeling really down, when the copper in charge told him it could be worse. The fellah in after him was down for goat buggery!
Young and stupid undoubtedly. However, I would imagine that the vast majority of us have dome daft things in our time that we later regret..
seems a common practise in some parts of the world. [NSFW][/NSFW]
I laughed to be honest. Heaven forbid somebody has a bit of fun ey? "Get the bloke playing in the wheelchair officer, but leave that gang of nonces alone"
