He said Peter Schmeichel now regards Manchester City as a "bigger club" than United based on recent form as the rivals prepare for Sunday's derby at the Etihad Stadium. On that is is right
That is plainly a ******ed use of the English language by the Dane. He meant a better team, a more successful team. But bigger? It is like saying Chelsea was the biggest club in the premiership when they won the titles with Maureen. City will never be bigger than United.
Schmeichel obviously meant a better team rather than a bigger club but it doesn't change the fact that I think he is a cock. Great player, utterly clueless when it comes to understanding or appreciating what it means to be a (proper) United fan.
Glad to be back! Just had a weeks work from hell, all I needed on the way home was the Chris Rea "This is the road to hell" track playing.Whoever designed the road network in Reading should be put against a wall and shot.
The term "Big club" irritates me if I am honest. Its meaning is completely subjective and the term is thrown about. Championship player moves from Reading to Sunderland: "I am so happy about the move, this is a big club" Its the same as "World class"
Losing David Silva is a blow but it's not an insurmountable problem as clearly highlighted by the 4-1 etihad hiding handed out to Utd last season with no Silva playing then either. We'd just come off the back of a loss away at Cardiff and a dour goalless draw at stoke so weren't in the best of form then either City Team: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Kolarov; Navas (Milner 71), Toure, Fernandinho, Nasri; Aguero (Garcia 86); Negredo (Dzeko 75). Subs not used: Pantilimon, Richards, Lescott, Jovetic. United Team: De Gea; Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Young (Cleverley, 52); Rooney; Welbeck. Subs not used: Amos, Evans, Büttner, Kagawa, Nani, Hernandez. We have a bit of a confidence issue going on at the minute but if we play with the intensity we did when we were much the better side against Chelsea then I'm sure it will be boosted throughout the side. Hopefully Pellegrini has learnt his lesson and will now look to give the back 4 greater cover in front and play 1 up top that really we've been crying out for. Mamgala has been given very little protection around him while he learns to settle in the PL and it's been exaccerbared by an out of form Clichy next to him and fernando/fernandinho overstretched with only the reluctantly defensive yaya next to them. Rather than be a game to dread I think the derby has come at just the right time for us and a win tomorrow will really kick start our season Team I hope we start with Hart Zabaleta Kompany Demichellis Kolorov Fernando Fernandinho Nasri Yaya Milner Aguero
I think last season while city were out of form, united had zero confidence and no belief we stood a chance. I get a very different feeling this time. Van gaal wont play to contain but will set out to attack. Could be another hammering if he gets ot wrong though.
Yep. So beaten before the first whistle like many teams coming to OT during SAF's reign. And those teams included City. Tomorrow the team will go to Etihad with a belief that they CAN win. Whether they do is a different matter. Moyes said we need to become a City. We won't hear LVG say that even if we are beat. Just a shame that Falcao got injured. He would have given the city defence something to think about.
It is completely subjective though. To Woking Town, Burnley is a big club To Burnley, Stoke is a big club To Stoke, Spurs are a big club To spurs, Man Utd is a big club It's all comparative.
For some reason i wouldn't be too concerned if we got a hammering - provided we played some good football - that would be the key difference to some of the dismal displays under Moyes. We can all see that we have defensive problems and there is nothing we can do until the window opens, so there is no point whining about it now. Should some of the summer transfer kitty have gone on strengthening the defence - of course it should, but at the same time we would have missed out on some of the world class talent that we now have in the squad - these were long terms strategic buys. LVG will strengthen our defence in the window, whether we have to wait until the start of the 2015 season to see the full benefit of the changes is debatable, but unlike Moyes, in LVG we trust, the guy has balls, he has the talent and he wants us to play attacking football. So what's not to like
