I know it's only nine but, let's face it, a draw tomorrow would be an incredible result and a win stratospheric. Having said that, when we played Chelsea and beat them 1 nil, I told my colleagues on the Friday that if we won, I'd run through the streets naked. We won and I did not! After 9 games, 2 years ago in our relegation year, we were rooted to the bottom with three points. As I recall we came off the bottom just once for a week and that was it. Wigan were 15th with 8 points and got relegated. Southampton were sitting where we are now but with only 4 points and finished comfortably away from the drop zone and have gone from strength to strength. It looks as though we've made some small progress but it also appears that this will be a high scoring league with 38 points possibly not enough to secure survival. After missing out on the draw against Hull and unluckily losing to Southampton, Harry now needs to consider the run in to Christmas with winnable games. We have Man City, Burnley and West Brom at home and away to Newcastle, Swans and Everton. I want to see us having a real go at Man City. We very nearly got something out of the game in our first season in the PL and with their current wobble, if we are at them as were with Liverpool, I fancy our chances at home. With injured players returning and confidence growing with wins and a vastly improved performance, there is absolutely no reason why we could not be out of the drop zone by Christmas. So, I have written off tomorrow but then I did that a few seasons back and look what happened then.
I wouldn't worry too much. Flyer said he'd streak across LR if SWP scored. He scored, Flyer didn't streak. Proof of Divinity or otherwise? Ask Stan. 13 games for me. 10 points or under by then. HR has to go.
Harry's still on a final warning imo. Realistically, the next couple of games are more about good technical and spirited performances rather than result (though anything we can pick up would be welcome). Thereafter, we HAVE to pick up serious points in vital matches or Harry gets his marching orders.
Spot on !! I think would be dependant upon the spirit of the team, and were we are relatively to others in the relegation battle. If others are pulling away, the then risk is probably worth a change, if we are still in the mix, the risk may be too great.
Others around us have had big results against the so called big teams. Newcastle - Spurs, Leicester- Man utd, so its time we did so our selves, and maybe the next 2 fixtures will give us a chance.
A loss today...but a fight is acceptable to me. But it must be a fight. Again next week....that really must be a fight (I accept we could be great next week and lose on a couple of seconds of magic from one of their stars)...but is also winnable by us After that no quarter...every match needs to yield points .... So today....They must play with tremendous spirit...and you never know!! Incidentally...Flyer said he would something far worse than just streak if SWP scored....and he didn't do that either
