Seeing as I doubt he was using his Quali/Race engine or gearbox, I doubt the premature end to his session, or the problems Nico experienced, will have a great impact on the important sessions. That's assuming it was engine or gearbox related.

Rosberg was really bigging himself up after practice and pretty much saying he will beat Hamilton this weekend especially in qualifying. That's what I made of the interview anyway, I think that is a brave move by him.

Not saying that he won't but it's too early in the weekend to make those sort of assumptions.

If Rosberg is wrong then he is going to look quite silly

If he's wrong then his championship challenge will be nearly completely reliant on luck in the final 2 races. Looking silly isn't going to matter.

Would it really disadvantage anyone, seeing as allowing Marussia and Caterham to miss the race sets a precedent that it's ok? In the constructors' championship Force India are miles clear of those behind, and unlikely to close the gap to Mclaren. Red Bull won't let Toro Rosso boycott I suspect, so the next team is Lotus, who are unlikely to score points anyway, and then pointless Sauber. With the exception of Sauber sneaking 9th (which with 14 cars remaining still seems unlikely), nobody would gain/lose championship positions by not racing.

Realistically the last time something of this scale happened was the Michelin boycott in US 2005, and that was for safety grounds (and some drivers - Coulthard and Trulli especially - were very reluctant). The teams have even *less* unity now and all it would take is one team who may or may not march under the banner of a prancing horse to go "**** all y'all we want a win however ****ty" and the boycott is pointless, especially since it'll cost the teams sponsorship money as well.
Put bluntly Bernie has the teams exactly where he wants them.

You have to go back to 1982 for the last actual boycott by teams when the FISA/FOCA battle was ongoing. It actually was successful at the time and continued to be fine for around 20 years as lots of teams were competing and whilst some were wealthier than others, the majority of teams all had their glory period. However ultimately it has got us back around to where we are again, purely because one person was in sole control. Maybe a very public boycott is what F1 needs. The sponsors and TV money will dry up quickly if the F1 bosses allow so much negative publicity to be so clearly broadcast.

Bernie is saying strong words, but personally I think he is crapping himself that it could happen.

Boycott, and it's just giving Bernie more ammunition sadly. This sport is run by clowns.

I really am beginning to lose my patience with F1. I get far more pleasure watching Indy these days. Bernie has to go... he just has to go before he drives the sport we love in to the ground.

It's time to rip up all these special deals with individual teams and put a fair deal on the table for all. Not going to happen though.

I love F1. I have spent 50 years watching it for free.

I have never contributed a single penny towards the sport. I refuse to subscribe to pay per view and I ignore the companies that sponsor the teams.

I, like the majority of F1 fans, was totally opposed to double points. But, like most of the people that opposed it, I will be glued to watching the final race because of it.

I wonder what the UK TV audience figure will be for that? Brazil usually scores highest with 5m. Abu Dhabi could be 5m + 1 or 2 maybe.

You'll have all the deluded hamelots watching, so that'll pump the figures up a little. It'll be so sweet if with one lap to go, his engine fails and Nico wins the title via double points, a giant middle finger to moronic casual fans who know nothing about the sport.

Sorry, but watching endless morons drone on about Hamilton being Jesus killed my mood a little throughout the summer.

    Kyle?

Was that the guy that rejoiced at the news of Lewis Hamilton joining Mercedes on the grounds that LH would spend the rest of his career not winning a single race?

His team beat Burnley. That must be something really to rejoice about.

<laugh> I can imagine! On the other hand, I'm quite proud of my capacity to be endlessly moronic. Try thinking of Alexis Sánchez instead.
