I am not a miserable bastard.....far from it My main gripe is that we have a birthday in the family today, so the f*****g doorbell ringing everyone two seconds spoils our fun. Tonight though, Ronnie the rottweiler has not been fed for two days so that should make the fat kids lose some weight.
Clearly as it isnt even difficult to not participate. Everyone knows that you dont go up to a house where the porch light is off. So you dont want to participate turn your light off. Anyway it just isnt for kids unless all the adults here have no friends since every woman at an adult Halloween party will be basically wearing lingerie.
The porch light thing may be respected etiquette in the US but over here it's a free-for-all rampage with no rules at all.
It is respected, no one goes to houses with the porch light off. Ill have my light on not that anyone is going to come up creepy driveway as you cant even see my house from the road.
You **** off and you can then deal with people knocking on your door. If you dont want to address the issue and you just want to complain about an event where kids get to get dressed up and have fun walking around with their friends then feel free to continue to be ridicules.
I have lived lots of places where kids come to your door and I dont know anyone who finds it the least bit annoying. Look its just a fun thing for kids. Most of the time they get together with their friends and one of the parents walks around with them. Here it stops around 7, its different for different communities but it doesn't run really late into the night. Adults will have parties late into the night of course. You are supposed to be part of a community, this type of thing is a community event. If you dont want to be or feel like you are part of a community then dont participate. Its really no different then everyone putting up Christmas decorations. Most everyone does it if they are religious or not and those that dont feel like doing it dont do it.
Yep, that's the thing. The States organises it properly, as some massive community/family event whereas over here there is no real organisation or etiquette. Fine if it's groups sticking to areas and communities they know as I'm sure the majority do, but it can also result in feral kids causing ****. Bonfire Night is more my thing - legitimate pyromania!
Halloween isn't about little kids getting dressed up and having fun. It's about scummy adolescent ****bags causing as much trouble as possible and throwing eggs at anyone and everything. Myself not my property have ever been egged by the way, I just think they're ****s who should be lined up and shot.
You should move to Detroit. They have a Devils Night that might be your type of thing. You can even meet up with Carmine, he probably has some insured business he is a shadow owner of that could use your assistance.
My pooch keeps going mad every time the door bell goes. I'm going to set him on the next group. That'll learn 'em.
