Muppets for expecting to thump the whipping boys of the league?

I am from SW and consider this rivalry to be largely one sided. I am only 30 though and people older than me may disagree. Although when I bump into QPR fans I or my friends know they are nowhere near as vile and hate filled as the majority on this forum. It's also quite funny that you think our entire fan base is either a tv fan, from surrey/kent or a toff.

Well I’m 27 so you should have been aware of that rivalry. In the early days of Premier league we were the top side in London and despite our relatively young age should be able to remember that and it would be a lie to say that was one sided in those days.

Understand though that the 15 year absence followed by another years absence and during that time the Roman Ambramovich money and inevitable influx of new fans have followed. But your true hardcore of fans particularly the Londoners and not home county ponces know that this game means more than your average game against a side that you aren’t directly competing with.

Even your new wave of fans have had to take note in recent seasons as against all odds we’ve some how managed to pull out some decent results.

And I’m not sure why you find it funny that I think your entire fan base is a tv fan because it’s a factual statement. Stamford bridge has a capacity of 41,000 and this BBC article from 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20974695 says that Chelsea fan base is 135 million. So at any one home game less than 0.03% of your fan base is at a game. So if 99.97% of your fans aren’t at the game then it really isn’t that funny a comment to say they are mainly TV fans

And as I tried to distinguish in my previous post, perception is that a large chunk of your fans (excluding the toffy local’s and new money- who will be sitting with tomorrow as I’m in a corporate section of your end- but before you get excited, I am with a building firm- and the term corporate section is misleading as I’ve sat there the last 2 games we played you and majority of people there are just rich blokes and young Arab lads with money) that do attend games aren’t actually Londoners, a large chunk are travelling in from Surrey and Kent. So they aren’t affected by the traiditonal reason for Derby’s mattering more in that, it’s their neighbours, family, friends and people they work with support the opposing team and they know they’ll have to put up with grief with them if result goes against them.

But considering the current nature, spread, of Chelsea fans. Plus the recent time majority of that 135 million have supported the club it’s unsurprising that the fact the 2 grounds are 2 1/2 miles apart is lost on the overseas late comers and home counties fairies.

What a load of bollocks. West London born and bred, supported Chelsea for over 40 years, and QPR have always been ****.

I agree it means more than the average game against another lower league side. I haven't said there is no rivalry there, I just know that it's a much bigger game for QPR than it is for Chelsea and always has been since I can remember.

I really can't be arsed to argue the fan thing. You're saying the 40 odd thousand people who do actually go to the games are all toffs or not from London when that's just rubbish. The tv fan argument is also rubbish as it's the same with every single club in the top flight, more fans watch the game on TV/online than attend the games because it's not actually possible to fit an entire fan base in a football stadium <doh>

    Well why not?!

I think SB should be expanded to fit all 160m Chelsea fans!! That reasonable right? Think we'd get the planning permission?

I didn't say it was, just pointed out that your fan base is made up of the post ambramovich influx and because of this its mainly 'TV fans'. Drogs found the suggestion of TV fans hilarious, but pleased to see that you accept Drogs was wrong this isn't funny. What I stated was a fact.

Now don't confuse things i'm not having a go at this. It is what happens when you suddenly become successful. BUT what I was saying is that these fans obviously don't get the rivalry of a derby because qpr are no more local to most of your fans than Sunderland are. So that helps to explain why they aren't as bothered as a Chelsea fan traditionally should be (not forgettin they mainly became fans after we were relegated in the 90's- which is also true because you didn't have 100m plus fans back then)

As for my original question I know it isn't something ur going to admit so as you haven't been able to answer I think i've got my answer... ha ha

Born in Hammersmith 1971, schooled in Hammersmith live in W4 now. QPR has never been as big a game for us as Fulham, let alone Spuds, West Ham, Leeds.

Good fun for banter and WUMming rrrs but Spuds Dippers etc clubs we hate.

You only need to look at the poor crowds we got v QPR in the 70s and 80s (17k-24k) compared to Fulham (30k-55k) to see which is the real WLD

Is this the fella I've heard about on here, who's never been to a game, but spends his days on a football forum talking about attendances??? <laugh>

Just don't get this us being crap pre-Abramovic thing. In the seven years preceding his arrival Chelsea finished 6th, 4th, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 6th, 4th. Only 2 other teams had a better stats than us. So next time someone says Pre-Roman we were nothing, just tell them the facts.

I see nothing changes on here?

This is from the bloke that had to post a picture of a ticket for his one and only game. He also quotes that he along with the other 150,000 Chelsea fans that claim to have been at the 1983/84/85 games where they took all four sides of the ground at the age of 12? <laugh>
I must have been dreaming when I was in the loft and no Chelsea fans we in with us.

He talks about our gates but never talks about the 15K gates at Stanford Bridge where you used to roll on the day and pay. TBH the way he talks about Fulham I think he actually supports both Chelsea/Fulham.

Maybe when the 1800 sheep turn up to Loftus Rd this season they won't sneak in and out like last 2 times

EC, I like your banter and you're a top Geezer but you must admit, the guy does have a point. You never stop banging on about attendances! Every time I check into this Board you're arguing with some mug from one Club or another about freakin' attendances.

Its like you're suffering from some sort of OCD complaint or summink!
