Gets in the way of other players chances/progress. Needs to either leave or retire, cos I'm damn sure BR is too cowardly to drop him.

Not sure why he would say this now, just concentrate on the football on the contracts will handle themselves

He will not be good enough to start for us next season but surely experience from the bench would be important?

  9. Carragher made similar comments a few years back. He said he wanted to carry on playing whilst he wasn't in the side and if needs be he'd consider playing elsewhere. Maybe its the same for Gerrard and he realises he's not the player he once was so might not be considered a main being in the not too distant future.

As for him playing elsewhere. Good luck to him, he's earnt the right to do what he wants as far as I'm concerned and I can't see him playing for Man Utd or Chelsea now anyway <laugh>

  10. It would have all been hollow, just like Michael Owen's medals from his time at Man Utd

He's been after a contract extension since the start of the season. He mentioned his hopes for a new deal when he announced his International retirement.

It sounds like there's been nothing put forward so he's raising the stakes by saying he's going to play on regardless.

He'll get offered a new deal. Rodgers loves him as proven by the fact he plays him constantly now.

Only thing is whether Gerrard is willing to accept a pay cut

Like? Can? He's hardly fit to sit in Gerrard's boots. Gerrard is the best we have tbh, despite the slagging off of him that goes on in this forum. Yea he's s**t at defending, but then so is the rest of the team. But he can still spray 40 yard passes accurately all day long.

IMO we should be looking at buying a new midfielder should Gerrard leave at the end of the season, not promoting from within.

Gerrard also said in the summer he would consider playing in the USA like Lampard (which means for Man City).

aside from the silly wums.... right.

Gerrard, get real.. thats what i'd ike to say to him.

The club has spoiled him f'n rotten with far too long a deal each time on his contracts and he has also already agreed on his LAST contract to be in an ambassador role

If he wants to kick ball then like terry and lampard he will have to work to justify a rolling one year deal.... thats what a NORMAL player would be getting from a NORMAL club.

frankly mouthing off like that is childish and indicates that he thinks he can pressurise the club to fall over themselves to lump another 2 deal deal on him. Its IMO bad practice, and shows he's the guy running the show not his manager. If there has been no conversation about this thats rodgers fault but if there has been and he's been told what I've said above and he's come out with this crack.... F off then. go to psg or where ever and pretend to play for a few games collect your easy medal like bekham did and be that way.

oh and spraying 40 yard cross field balls isn't what football is all about so..... not impressed.
