Well if the investment helps towards the stadium expansion then that's good news. It frees up money towards transfers and wages etc. Interesting where it says that shares might eventually be given to new investors although on a small proportion.
We need investment just to remain on course of becoming an established premiership side as it is not cheap here and gets more expensive with every successful season. I can totally see the clubs reasons for this and i hope it is just an investment and not the beginnings of a foreign takeover. I can't help recalling jinx when he said that should a reasonable offer to buy anyones shares too good to turn down then that is a possibility. I dont think this is the case here as its a relatively small but significant investment but nevertheless the investors will want a profit in return and that is fair. They must have something to offer the club apart from money and im looking forward to their input and association with the club for years to come just as long as we dont end up with foreign investors holding the bulk of the shares...
Does anyone else feel that this is the thin end of the wedge and our Club is about to change for the worse? I really hope I'm wrong and that's not the case.
It does have a slight smell about it dragon just by the comments from jinx a few weeks ago but its clear that investment is needed so lets see what happens. Mind you it would not surprise me if we do end up with foreign investors in control a couple of years down the line..
Why not , it may strengthen the Trust's position on the Board , for a small outlay it could collectively make a difference to what could develop in the future of the club.
We are an established Premier League side though, and we've done it without 'selling out'. Not sure where this additional investment is going to take us.
Yes agree but it's clear by jinx's comments that if we are to remain here then we will need investment....I can understand that monty...
Im not keen and never have been keen on ploughing money into the liberty stadium that will never be ours. I would rather build our own purpose built stadium that will be ours to invest in.....
John Moores is worth $750,000,000 in cash reserves. He sold Peregrine Systems somewhat recently for about $600M and then the San Diego Padres for $800M. He is a modern day philanthropist and is rumoured to be a signatory to Bill Gates' and Warren Buffet's movement to give away 99% of their wealth before their death.
Given the financial cuts that Swansea council are faced with for the next 3-5 years (like all councils), now could be the right time to buy the Liberty from them. The council could then plough that money into schools etc.
They have already quashed any talks of any chance of buying the liberty valley, they state that it is for the city of swansea and surrounding districts and will never be sold.....they just want our money to improve the stadium that will be used by all and they will get the revenue....I have never been in favour of the set up but we did not have much choice at the time, We do have a choice now as we can invest our money for us and not for everyone elses benefit. We need our own place and if we can get investment for that then thats the way to go...There is too much red tape at the liberty because the stadium will never be ours.....
Maybe our new investors will build us a new stadium and rather than them getting a percentage of the club, they can have the naming rights to the stadium and shirt sponsors. We can hope
Is there any clubs that make 30 million over a few seasons and still put on a good display with who they transfer. As is and keep saving and finding how to make money withib the present structure. Many an investor has put many a team under stress.
Looks like the Supporters Trust aren't keen. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-supporters-trust-say-8014519
Could this investment be the final piece of the jigsaw that takes us from the bottom of the fourth division to a Champions League side? The risks to the Club are obvious and we don't want to go back to the bad old days of financial ruin, but is it is better to have tried and lost, rather than never tried at all?
No matter what we could come up with , it will never be enough to compete with Man U , Man City , Chelsea , Aresenal And Tottenham ... so why try. .There is a trail of teams who try and fail in ruin .If we fail somewhere along the way , I dont want to be in a ""Ruin"" possibility . The obvious thing to me is if it aint broke , all ahead full with the same .
