Right decision, but if Coutinho I think it was hadn't been so quick and good at adjusting his body weight it could have been ugly. Fernandez came in with his full weight but it wasn't malicious and that is how we know english football.
Isn't that what he did? To me it looked like he committed himself 100% to the tackle, and today's standards even in England it was probably a yellow.
There is no penalty for being 100% committed in a tackle. The referee simply made a shocker and should have had the decency to admit he was wrong, now he is reading the news and seeing the FA have effectively agreed with Monk that he was a rubbish referee.
I think I read somewhere that it was the first game between top flight teams that the ref had overseen for some years? Should be a few more before he gets his next one too!! I'm pretty sure he brandished the red card with a view to extra-time and making sure we'd be at a disadvantage there. People can say it's just the league cup but it was an hugely incorrect result defining decision, nowhere near the standard of refereeing required.
I feel the same as Jonas , it was reck less and could have been a veey dangerous situation by inches . Realize im in the minority but to see most say it was a clean cut tackle makes me wonder about you lot a lot ....lol
The tackle was first class and spot on, no player should be penalized for a tackle like that. It's right and proper that the red card was overturned but i doubt very much it would have happened if monk had never rightfully brought to attention the diabolical decisions that not only us but in football in general about the poor decisions that are taking place in british football...
This gives monk more ammo now when he has his meeting with mr Riley today in regards to decisions against us. Wishful thimking that anything comes of it as it will most prob be said that all refs are impartial and take everygame as a blank canvas with no pre judgements
The only decision possible was to rescind the red card; and admit error. Simply put, it was a perfect tackle, no if's, but's or maybe's, it was a perfectly controlled tackle made with precision. So much control Fernandez could be seen to angle his studs away from the player and so much precision that he cold be seen not only to fairly win the ball but in an instant lay it off to a team mate. Once again, yet another mistake by the officials we paid dearly for. From the frequency of poor decisions going against us it can be construed, I bet it can be proven mathematically, that we are regularly marked as the lesser team by match officials, the FA not forgetting Woy who needed a nudge from the press to get his arse down here. The only way to change deep set opinion is to challenge and confront them which is why it is important for Monk to address his, our, misgivings to Riley today. Give em hell Monk, get into their heads boy.
Oh **** don't start Stereo, we'll have the mods threatening roof with a ban. Agree with that last post Stumpy. Spot on.
