Surely the better looking ones should be paid more? It would encourage more attractive women into the sport, and in turn get more "fans" ahem to watch. #winwinsituation #nosexismhere
This. Tbh it's the same for lower league football as well. Pisses me off a bit when people start banging on about the bad state the game is in, how high PL ticket prices are, and how few people are getting into grass roots football. Then they continue to fork out £60+ a pop to support the side they are moaning about, instead of paying £4 to support their actual local team. Nothing will change unless people vote with their feet. But I digress. Every time a women's team score a goal, their opponents remove an item of clothing. Problem solved
Two things one that: First is that women's 'soccer' in the USA has been developing and growing for far longer than the English one and, just like anything, they take time to get to that stage. The men's game is also improving each and every year and, low and behold, they're earning more. People in this country seem to want to click their fingers and make women's football an overnight success with huge audiences, sponsors and talent. It simply won't happen. The women's game will grow here, I have no doubt about that. Probably not to the extent of the men's game, but enough that there's a good wage to be earned. However, it'll take 15/20 years. The second point ties into that one. I found it highly ironic that the BBC were sitting on their moral and just high horse preaching about equal pay, opportunities and whatever else. Most here have agreed that pay is simply down to bums on seats, which I agree with, and yet the BBC of anyone else in the UK (well, and SKY) have the power to actively promote and drive the sports forward. Why not? Because they're earning so much from football and other men's sports that to do so would put them out of pocket and lose ratings. So instead, they tell us how unfair it is and suggest we're not helping the women's game, yet they're doing far less despite more opportunity and power to do so. Interesting.
