OK from my reading 1. The match was not set up so Adel could play...it was a u21 fixture that was always going to be played....but as they allow a certain amount of over age players, it is used as a training/fitness mechanism for players who need it (Yun has played a few as has Vargas etc...). That is an irrelevancy SO>>> 2. The whole crux of this question is....was Adel asked/expected to play?...We do not know that he was?..This is crucial 3. If he was expected to play (we do nnot know if he was!)...why didn't he (injury, excuse, not turn up)...again we do not know (Injury, no problem...and excuse (what is it)....not turn up (inexcusable)...but we do not know. WE WILL SEE But of interest...we find out now, from the Media team (interestingly this piece of info came out after this match)....that Arry will be happy to talk about the Adel situation at the Thursday press call. Now TF had said, that he had spoken to all, and the club and the people involved, would not be speaking of it any more But now the media people say...you can ask Arry about it on Thursday......reading between the lines...something is about to happen What is anyone elses take on this I so love the fact that we have a great win...we have a day talking about Yun and Dunne and Charlies brace of goals...and now it is back too Adel again!
This is were i would just like the club to get out social media spot light. This can either be sorted out behind closed doors or dragged out in the press. if the press do drag it out we just look like mugs. When Harry is asked will Adel play. It would be nice for him to say he will be in the squad or no he is still not ready but is working hard. Whether he is or he isn't. oh and Rio has a groin. Which kept him out the Liverpool game. Next Question please
This is what I agree with- At the moment there is non-story!!!! Personally I believe its more likely he wasnt asked to play in this game, no one else in senior squad did and he's meant to be ill at the moment But the same old people pipe up and say he doesn’t care about our club…. Wha wha wha…. Every player we have loves the club, has no desire to move onto a bigger team and would never say anything bad about the club etc etc McCarthy did the pre-match press conference, said he didn’t regret joining us yet, and he signed because of what Harry told him so as long as that’s true he is fine… 2 days later he’s not even on the bench and then doesn’t even get his eye in and play in the U21 game?!?!!?!?!!? Where’s the thread about McCarthy saying he doesn’t care about our club?! Did he refuse to play if so he’s the worst professional ever… wha wha wha. Bring back Paddy Kenny he’s a fans favourite and he would never say anything bad about the club wha wha wha If it turns out on in the press conference that Adel was no longer ill and refused to play in the U21’s then ok fair enough we can comment on that then but give the same old lines a rest unless it’s somewhere close to justifiable
I think from what has recently happened we should wait until we get an answer … well said Col and Peter IMO the affair must of been discussed in-house about time posters learnt not to hang on everything that Harold says Jump on Taarabt all you like ... get him out the club?. If i was Taarbat I would still be fuming as it's these reports that just add gas to the fire.
According to the thread that Soops started on Sunday about illness in the squad, Taarabt was suffering from a sore throat which threatened to keep him out of the squad for the Villa game. Therefore it is not unreasonable for him to still be unwell a few days later.
Waiting until tomorrow for Harry to say anything about Adel is a good idea. It gives TF time to sit down with Harry and work out exactly what he can and cannot say.
I've seen it reported as tonsillitis, so may be worse than a sore throat. But if Taarabt has a perfectly good reason not to play, why does the club decline to comment when asked about his absence? Something's not right.
Great that we now have a couple of top class keepers on our books. I would think after his performance against Villa, keeping a clean sheet, that the shirt is Rob Green's for now. McCarthy likely gutted by his injury since he was originally due to start that game, with Green on the bench - Murphy obviously wasn't too far away.
It was reported in the press this morning that Taarabt trained with the other first team players who didn't figure against Villa. We still wait to hear if there was anything naughty going on, but it seems to me that he wouldn't have been training with the rest of them if he had refused to play.
Yes, this could all turn out to be a storm in a teacup, since Harry had already indicated that Taarabt was nursing a sore throat, so was unable to train last week, hence not on the team sheet for Sun, so did anyone really expect some sort of miraculous recovery for that U21 match on Tues?
It would be out of character - playing matches (or wanting to) and refusing to train is his petulant worst so I reckon there's journalist creativity afoot.
Harry spoke about Adel not playing on Monday today - he said that Adel asked to speak with him on Monday morning and they had a very good long chat. Adel said he admits he could be fitter and wants to work hard to get back into the team. They BOTH agreed that he should train with the first team rather than be the only senior pro in the u21 game. Harry said he trained very very hard and has done so all week. So, absolutely no blame to Taarabt for not playing on Monday. He didn't pull out because he couldn't be arsed, wasn't ill, wasn't injured - Harry and him both agreed. Sounds like a positive to me.
That's truly good news for the club (and hopefully fans). I think someone needs to remind him of this determination every week so that it doesn't dip (although if he can get in the team then it'll help).
There’s a shock!! Likely lads got all excited and regurgitated old criticisms and entrenched prejudices against Adel even though it was completely unjustified QueenslandRangers, Eamon, and UTR’s... apology accepted
Sounds really good news. If I was to fault anyone here, it would be the club for declining to comment when Taarabt's non-appearance prompted reasonable questions. After what everyone at the club admits was a poorly handled and embarrassing spat, why feed negative speculation rather than stamp on it by a prompt explanation?
Maybe, maybe not! My entrenched impression of Harry is that he says to the media whatever he wants to say to fit his agenda, or now possibly is told to say by TF, regardless of the truth of the matter. There is as little reason for me to believe this is genuine good news, as it was to believe Adel was really 3 stone overweight or had not trained all pre-season.
Soap opera. I'm waiting for the "Adel eats Redknapp: Declares himself fit for next match" headline. Or "Harry and Adel share shiska pipe on Edgware Road: To marry next spring" Or "Tony Fernandes to grease himself up and act as bouncy castle in Adel/Harry peace talks"
