Whichever way his decision goes, I'd imagine Rodriguez's mind has already been made up. Poch would have talked to him already, and Jay will know what he's going to do. Just comes down to what that decision is.
Yeah, we have seen how under hand MP is willing to be with the whole Morgan affair, so I'd not be surprised if they have spoke. Jay should be very careful, his next decision will be massive in terms of career development.
Yes - does he want to go Spurs>Villa/Newcastle>Burnley, or Saints>Saints>Everton/Liverpool. Journeyman or premium.
haven't checked thoroughly but Su 29Dec 2013 gaston came on and equalised. (shortly before everton scored the winner)
The recent reports suggest that Spurs are willing to meet our asking price of £15m. Someone is having a laugh. If Lallana is worth £25m JRod is wirth in excess of £30m. It stinks to me of the derisory £10m offer for Schneiderlin. Both are a big part of our future and, in my view, the club should say they are not for sale.
There is no way the asking price for Schneiderlin is 15 million. He is a French international for heaven's sake. Even on one of our more reasonable days he would be 20+, whereas on a seriously pissed day he'd be 30 million. At the moment, can you imagine if we told Morgan he was going? Who me? Then they'd have to peel his hands off Koeman's ankles. (I hope).
Sorry - should have made it clearer. The £15m was what the media were reporting as the SFC asking price for JRod. Either way - they are not for sale and setting the price in excess of £30m for each is a good way of getting the message across!
Why all the J-Rod negativity? Sure, he's spoken out of turn on a couple of occasions but so has Morgan. We are in a different place now and I can see J-Rod fitting into the squad quite nicely. He might well decide that Spurs is a better fit for him,, with the money they'd offer, a regular starting slot and a manager who trusts him but I can equally see him fitting in vey well to the Koeman style and signing a new contract here with us. We've got a way to go in terms of improving the squad to cover all areas and an England international who has been re-habbing in and around the first team shouldn't be disgarded as quickly as some are suggesting, for whatever price. We should all want him to stay and at the end of the day it's down to the club. I'm going to say he'll sign a new 4 year contract before the end of the season!
where is he fitness wise now? Will he be back in and around the first team squad before January do you think?
I think everyone does want him to stay - we're just saying that if he's fool enough to still want to leave right now, having just come back from long-term injury, well let him play fool. I hope he's being smart, sees the direction the club is going (and also the direction Spurs seem to be headed), gets his head down and signs a new deal with us. Happy days.
You know what, Pepys..? I might backtrack slightly on what I said about JayRod staying. Looking through the tweets last night and I notice JayRod has not tweeted a single Saints supporting message for this season. Yes, he's buzzed for his teammate Nat Clyne, but no great result lads or anything else of that nature. Not saying I think he's on his way out. Logic dictates, and all that, but I begin to think his head isn't entirely wired for his present employers. He'd be an absolute fool to leave under the present climate, in any case. If anything, I'd expect him to be hammering on Les Reed's door asking for a pen and contract.
Don't read anything into it. He's just not into twitter. Check out his blog. Good support there (but again not updated very regularly).
Neither really, from our point of view. But can't see any other top four-aiming club wanting him, other than those two options.
Thinking JRod is leaving or not leaving is merely an opinion, but all I require of a player is that he does things properly. Does his best while here and does things behind closed doors if he wants a move i.e. not being a right Lovren! JRod has said nothing in public (mind you, bless him, you can scarcely understand him anyway ). I would say to both Jay and Morgan, be very careful what you wish for.
OK. As I said, logic dictates. Here's a well written article which sums up the whole situation nicely, and possibly provides an insight as to why we can have such differing opinions. Apologies if already posted: http://thepremierleagueowl.com/southamptons-jay-rodriguez-contracts-time-and-injuries/
thing is JWP is on crutches but he walks through the corridoors every home match, low fiving everyone. Jay is up and walking but you never see him involved.
I think Rodriguez and Morgan are entirely different in terms of value to others. I would like to keep both but this is modern football. Morgan is THE best DM in the Premier League. There are not that many top quality DMs in the world let alone the Prem so that pushes his value to others way up even if the clubs that have their eye on him like to push the £20m or less valuation to their media monkeys. They are hardly going to tell their media links that they are preparing £30m january bids are they. He is in the mold of Mascerano, someone you build a team around as he can control the pace and the way a team plays as well as covering more ground than most players. Rodriguez is a Prem proven striker however there are quite a lot of Prem proven strikers around. I would put him on a level with Sturridge (who I would hate at Saints) and the likes of Adebayor, Giroud etc BUT he isn't coming from a Premium team, can't boast CL experience and has only 1 publicly derided (no matter how unfairly derided it was.) I would say the maximum we are going to get for him in the summer is £20m and I think other teams will not want to pay that. As for the 'might now think Saints is the right place for him'. When will we learn? This is modern football. If we finish 5th in the EL and as a cup winner, then offer him a £60k a week salary he will still choose Spurs or Liverpool on £100k a week even if they are not in Europe!!! I think they will both go in the summer. They can say all they want but after that summer with a loyal badge kissing ****er pissing on any thoughts anyone had of 'Mr Southampton' I will go season to season and look at the squad at the end of each transfer window and then say 'I'm glad Fonte stayed, I'm glad [insert other name her] stayed and then look forward to see the new recruits. If Jay or Morgan is one of those that do stay then superb, if not Fook 'em as long as they play for the shirt while they are paid by the club and don't **** us about at the end of the season then thats fine by me.
