I just wonder if those who were panicking have woken up over the last few days regarding why we hadnt signed people earlier? Had it never occurred to you that if we signed people earlier than the week training started WE'D BE PAYING THEM FOR NOTHING?!?
I think that the less we hear about specific signings until they are confirmed, the better it is for the club. we have fallen foul of this in the past, having a public discussion before we are anywhere close to making a signing. It gives the players/clubs more leverage and alerts others to what we are doing. better to keep things confidential and present them as a fait accompli.
Couldn't agree more, including the signings made at the end of last season, we've added 5 players to the squad and it's still only July 1st!!!! Some of the negativity on here has been cringeworthy
Must admit to liking the way the club is doing business. No fanfare, no press release, no press statement, just an official statement on their web page. Just shows what high esteem they have for the sports coverage in the local press/radio.
i think some people took pearsons comments about doing business early, a little bit too literally....i think he meant not scrambling around on the last day of the window etc....not that everybody would be here on the 1st june
If we agreed to sign Adebola 4 weeks ago we could have done the paperwork and announced the deal then. He would still only have been on our payroll as of today because his previous contract only finished yesterday. Beyond that I agree with you though, nobody had really been doing any business except selling to PL clubs or releasing players. What will be interesting to see is how many Bosman players suddenly decide they want to tie a deal up more quickly. Now that they're not being paid by their former clubs every week they wait is losing them wages on the off chance someone comes in with a better deal for them. In the last month they've been as well to wait and see because a contract offered to Adebola 4 weeks ago could be signed immediately or yesterday and be worth the same to them.
soft **** do you know how a contract works? we agree to sign them and then when the transfer window opens we pay them.until then it's not our problem.btw apart from hobbs i think every signing is ****ness.
Yes, whereas they leave a lot to be desired we have to give them a chance and it will be 6 games in before we can form a fair and constructive judgement. If we are in the bottom third then the fans will be dropping out of the trees to post on these boards.
If Ayala signs and we also nick another Utd youngster (season long loan) to add some more skill in midfield then I'll be very happy with our summer of transfer dealing. Failing that have Koren in the middle!
Mckenna has been signed to do the job that Ash did, a signing which we needed and going by the comments from Forest fans we have a good player on our hands. Aside from a couple of dodgy moments Hobbs looked solid at the back and can't be that bad if this time last year Leicester fans wouldn't let us anywhere near him. Dudgeon is an unknown quantity but all the signs point to him being a decent defender and Evans can do a job in midfield and chip in with some goals. I can undertsand why people would be disappointed with Adebola, but the Forest fans only seem to say good things about him an as has been said by other posters his hold play is something we needed up front last season and it gives us something different to bring on in the 2nd half if we need to get something. By the sounds of things more signings will follow, and although the signings aren't the most exciting you can see what they can bring to the team next season. They aren't as bad as you think imo
Just because they aren't the signings you would personally like. This is Nigel Pearson's team, not your's, so get used to his type of players The fact that you think it's practical to have a central midfield earning in excess of £70K a week proves my point exactly
Adebolas signing has improved the squad already as we had nobody like him, unless somebody mentions the six foot fairy Folan who was the biggest let-down in Hull's history. Not sure about Mckenna but am not going to pass judgement on anybody until I've seen them play a dozen games at least for us.
Another insightful comment from everyone's favourite poster. This guy deserves a medal, for being the most witty, affable and intelligent person on the Hull board. His silver-tongue can be very persuasive, especially when he begins a response to a perfectly good post with "soft ****".
Proves what point? How? I honestly couldn't answer that, but I don't think buying for the sake of buying is the right way to go. We don't have anybody like Phil The Power Taylor on our team either, but we wouldn't stick him up front.
Yes, but that's the point. You are not honest. We all know that from your previous posts and persona. More likely, in my opinion, you are just taking a contrary line, automatically gainsaying what the true supporters think, just to be awkward and rebellious. A lot of children go through that phase. It'll all change when your balls drop and you eventually pass through puberty. In the meantime, as you are obviously an intelligent lad, please keep posting as you do come up with the occassional good point. This is all good for your development. Well done and keep trying.
