This young lad looks like a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry tasty player for Newcastle United, great composure, ball control and has a good final ball. Very impressive to show those qualities in the top league in the world. He got a substantial mention after the game by Gary, Phil and Danny, so imagine my surprise that he is one of our lads???

Did anyone know anything about him? As I can't say I heard of him before the start of this season. My guess is, he was brought in during the Millen era when we had Wigley who was heavily involved in the England Youth setup.

do we think there is any kind of money that might come our way ? I assume we would get some credit for developing him up to the age of 16.

I'd be surprised if we were to get anything substantial. What I wonder is why we let him go, and didn't introduce him into the first-team when we so desperately needed a midfielder? If he's able to play for Newcastle United in the Premier League why wasn't he good enough to play for Bristol City in the Championship or League 1?!

    He's looking fantastic!

Need to tread carefully as he's still just a lad, but boy, what a prospect!

He was only with City for a brief period and previously he was playing for Bristol Central Youth. There can be a variety of reasons why a kid leaves, or opts for elsewhere beyond being good. A major one beyond just the football is that the club has to feel "right", it is major decision, they are children in a harsh environment where virtually all will be rejected.

Well this time Newcastle got it right and we got it wrong.
We need to look at the issues here (as a club) and learn from the situation. If its an approach to youth development then we have something to learn from Newcastle

I don't think the club has learnt from this. They offered Joe Morrell a contract on the back of interest from another club (as other clubs do with there talent) but that was the last time they done this. i,m told now the club has a different approach to offering young pros contracts and there are a couple of promising players who have not excepted this and not signed.
There is a promising U16 player who has told the club he will not sign his scholarship and will leave the club this summer to train with Southampton. There is also an U18 who Bristol have had offers from other clubs for but as far as I know the club is doing nothing to tie him down. I believe to keep your talent you need to offer them a little bit more than the average players or they will leave. These lads have been around the club for years and know exactly how it works and are not going to be fobbed off with insulting offers. Maybe Rolando Aarons felt this way and left.
