We're talking about women's pay in football and tennis; not cycling.

I was repying to this little gem...

Therefore, why should somebody who is worse at the sport, be entitled to the same rate of pay? When a man wins a title, it is usually a title to the order of the best person on Earth. When a woman wins a title, she's the best WOMAN on Earth.

They didn't mention football or tennis in that!

I don't know how much she was earning in comparison but I'm guessing it would have been less. She is/was such an inspirational figure.

No wonder we all think women aren't as good as men at football. Look at the conditions they have to play in.

Ref shoulda called this one off...

Serena said herself that she probably wouldn't even win a point if she played Murray. I suspect she'd be beaten easily by anyone in the top 150 of the men's game and you'd probably have to go to about 300 to find someone she'd be equal to.

Here's a story from when she actually played against a male player

"Karsten Braasch v the Williams Sisters

During the 1998 Australian Open, sisters Serena and Venus Williams boasted that they could beat any man ranked outside the world's top 200. The challenge was accepted by Karsten Braasch, a German player ranked No 203 (his highest ranking was No 38). Before the matches, Braasch played a round of golf in the morning, drank a couple of beers, smoked a few cigarettes, and then played the Williams sisters for a set each, one after the other. He defeated Serena, 6-1, and Venus, 6-2. Serena said afterwards "I didn't know it would be that hard. I hit shots that would have been winners on the women's tour and he got to them easily."

That is a very interesting read Charlie, I have read somewhere parts of this story, but it just goes to show that the women's game goes back a long way.

Regardless of what you have, what you think and what you want, theses issues worthy of discussion. It's good to be competitive, but you have to convince the commercial market you are worth what you believe you are. The porn market is the simple example of what is right and wrong (gender has **** all to do with it). Normal people compete, they use similar drugs (some artificial ) to those used in sport, yet they are living not just parallel to our norm, but amongst us. I have a huge faith in our sense of okay (Brady, butt out. <cheers>) but I think the Wrong'uns might prevail.
    Do you?

But if a woman's game goes 6-0 6-0 they only play 2 sets....in the top flight men's game they always play a minimum of 3 but women still get paid the same
