Mine is: GK - Szezchney RB - Debuchy CBs - Kos Mert LB - Gibbs DM - Flamini MF1 - Ramsey No. 10 - Cazorla LW Sanchez RW - Walcott ST - Welbeck What's yours?
Flamini doesn't get anywhere near my 11. I'm tempted to put Wilshere in ahead of Arteta because at his best he is the better player - but Arteta offers more defensive stability. I would go. Sczezney Debauchy Mertesacker Koscieleney Gibbs Ramsey Arteta Ozil Sanchez Wellbeck Walcott ----------------------Sczezney--------------------- Debauchy----Mertesacker----Koscielney---Gibbs --------------Arteta---------Ramsey--------------- -----------------------Ozil-------------------------- ---Walcott----------Wellbeck----------Sanchez---
Yep Arteta ahead of Flamini for me. A fully fit and on form Wilshere ahead of Ramsey, just. But we still need to balance our MF with a dedicated DM. I'd even consider playing a 4-1-2-2-1 with a DM two CMs, two wingers and a lone CF. Something like Debuchy...Mert....Kos....Gibbs ................Bender................ ........Wilshere.....Ozil............ ...Walcott...............Sanchez ...............Welbeck..............
I feel our 1st 11 is a big ? as we'll never see the whole team fit at the same time! But assuming a miracle then mine would be Szcezney Debuchy Merts Kos Gibbs - (we've missed what he adds to our attack) Arteta (I prefer a more defensive player than Arteta, like Flamini - but he's badly out of form) Ramsey Ozil Sanchez Walcott Giroud
Ramsey was a beast for you last season, easily your best player for the first 10-15 games and the main reason you went top early on before he got injured. Earnt me a shed loads of Fantasy football points too! You really wouldn't have him in your first XI?
I'm surprised you'd have Flamini and Cazorla in your team over Arteta and Ozil. I was hoping that Cazorla would rediscover his form, and especially his shooting boots from his 1st season as I really like him. But I haven't been impressed with him this season or the end of last season - he seems to lose the ball a lot, his shooting is awful and he doesn't move enough. Which is a shame as an on form Cazorla is fearsome!
Weird how differently people see things, I think that Cazorla has been one of our best midfielders. I would pick him ahead of Ozil based on this season's form. At least Caz isn't afraid to have a shot on goal, he takes a mean freekick and, like Ozil, is a good passer. I think a run of games would see him get better and better. As for my choice of Flamini, I just think he gives the team more 'fight.' I think we look like a more daunting proposition for our opponents with him in the team than Arteta.
It is funny the different perspectives on the same subject isn't it? I can understand what your saying about Flamini and last season I'd have said the same thing (though I can see Wenger's argument about Arteta keeping the ball moving and starting moves from the back). But I just feel his form has been so poor this season he's constantly out of position. But I can't say there's much in it, it's hardly like one of them is a Mascherano
Jack Wilshit would never make my team. He's a terrible footballer. Has the bag of tricks and great at ghosting past players but happens too often in the wrong areas at the wrong times. He's just not intelligent enough and i think its damning that everytime he has played, you guys don't seem to get the right results (until he's subbed off). For me your best 11 are ---------Szcezney-------------- Debuchy --Merts--Kos---Gibbs --Arteta -- Ramsay -- Wally --- Ozil ----- Sanchez Welbz
I will be a bit controversial.... ----------------------Sczezney--------------------- Debauchy----Mertesacker----Koscielney---Gibbs --------------Chambers---------Ramsey--------------- -----------------------Ozil-------------------------- ---Ox----------Walcott----------Sanchez---
That's a very different team Bobo - do you really think Walcott can lead the line on his own, or hold it up to bring the other players into the game? It's a very short front 3 as well. If/When we sign some extra defenders in Jan I'd be interested in seeing Chambers in a DM role, but I'd assume this would only be in the FA Cup, and maybe not even then as it's a big ask for a green 19 year old to master 3 new positions at the same time. (he'd only played a handful of games at RB for Southampton).
The irony of this post is he's arguably been our best midfielder overall this season (Ramsey is off form, Cazorla has been blowing hot and cold same as Flamini and Arteta, Ãzil hasn't hot top form yet and the others haven't played that much) and he's been top quality for England so where this tripe is coming off I don't know. In case you haven't noticed we usually don't score until late in games nowadays when we take off midfielders to pile on strikers so those "stats" aren't at all convincing to me
When you hog the ball and throw in 50 passes with a few coming off then obviously you are going to look better compared to other players. Ramsays been in poor form granted and so has Cazorla, but i don't think its a coincidence that Arsenal have started slowly now that Jack is getting more game time. Last year you were grinding out victories on a solid defence (working with the midfield) and years before that it was all about the attack. This year you have added exceptional talents in Sanchez and a fairly decent Danny Welbeck, but you are struggling to score and you are struggling to defend. Watch Jack play and the amount of times he: 1. Runs in blind alleys and loses the ball trying an impossible killer pass 2. Holds the ball for ages instead of releasing first time 3. Tries to take people on from the dm position rather than play it simple 4. Most damningly how he wanders back in a jog. Denilson used to get killed for that (granted denilson was the DM)
How's this for controversial: with a fully fit squad, how about Diaby in the holding role and bollocks to Flamini and Arteta?
