I think it is more difficult for the club at away games, because the layout and what the stewards will tolerate are not always clear. I think some clubs issue tickets in ways that make allocations difficult, for example issuing only in number order. But I think as a general policy, it shouldn't be unrealistic for people buying tickets to request to be put with fellow singers, and for that area to be nearer the top where possible. At home, this should be something to work towards over the longer term, so that people are happy in their seats and the atmosphere can improve.
H I realise that, DMD. I was just wondering why all our fans were sat down when every other game there you see all the away fans stood up. So they don't enforce sitting. Unless they think we are the only fans who won't argue back.
The problem at some grounds like Old Trafford is that in the upper tiers they are built steeply as there is not the space to get the number of seats in on a more gentle incline, there is also the fact that it is not ideal to have fans sit back further away from the pitch. This design causes serious problems with safety if fans stand.
Where I was, a steward just politely asked people to sit down because people behind couldn't see. I was in row 28. The back six rows or so behind me continued to stand. Why would I want to argue with a steward? I know, I'm being awkward again.
Have you seen how steep the stands are at places like Boca Juniors, Valencia Real Madrid, the San Siro and loads of other places where fans are a lot more boisterous than ours?
If the six rows behind you continued to stand why did you sit down as you weren't blocking anyone's view? Which doesn't answer the question why every other teams' supporters all stand up without it causing any problems to anyone.
For ****s sake do you ever actually think before you post? Do you honestly think that before we play away the stewards at those grounds actually make a point of how they can enforce certain policies on Hull City fans more than others? Because we're all submissive nodding dogs. And how do you know other away fans don't sit down at Anfield? How would anyone know unless they attended every game and were positioned near to the away fans?
Amazingly, I sat down because I wanted to sit down. The entire stand in front of me sat down as well. That's one of the reasons I llike going to Anfield. I don't think that the stewards there are being difficult just because they try to enforce the rules. I have no idea if other teams are treated differently but I doubt it. Perhaps you haven't realised that just because most people on here say they want to stand, it doesn't mean that everyone does. The vocal ones on here do not necessarily represent the majority' opinion. Standing for the entire game is not the norm. Just look around the grounds. There are only some sections where people stand for any length of time.
This may come as a surprise to you but it is possible to see what other fans are doing without being at the game. There is this new fangled invention called television.
I stand when I go away. Circumstances permitting. I remember Sunderland last year I had a family behind me and if I'd have stood up the youngsters in the group wouldn't have been able to see. So I sat down. The bloke in front of me realised I had to sit so he sat down as well. Basic manners and common sense or is that not allowed?
You get a lot more seated at games like Liverpool and Arsenal, than you do at the likes of Stoke and West Brom.
So you sit and make note of how many away fans are stood up as opposed to sat down on MOTD when they show Liverpool home games? Really? Maybe you could compile a chart or a graph to show us the stats? I'm sure we'd all be interested. I definitely would. I bet the long winter nights fly by in your house.
The sections where people stand invariably stand include away sections. Ever seen our useless stewards enforcing no standing amongst away fans at the KC? Yet they can March to the back row of home areas and tell someone not interfering with anyone's view to sit down. No wonder our support is so poor given the attitude of some. And, please note, health reasons mean I can't stand for long periods. I just try to go where it isn't a problem instead of expecting everyone else to remain seated. If I can't I just put up with it. Anything else would be hypocritical as I would be standing for the whole game if circumstances were different.
I just notice by looking. You must not be as observant if you can't see these things which are on the screen right in front of you.
Funny how we have so many problems. Other teams come to the KC and seemingly all of them are stood up without it causing problems to anyone.
Would common sense include moving youngsters and/or those that want to sit to the front, so both types can be happy?
I usually only go to the away matches nowadays so I do know what it is like. I often stand through the match but not out of choice. My point is that it may seem to be the norm but is that because there isn't a choice? If the people in front stand up then I have to stand up as well. That means the people behind me have to stand etc. The whole stand has to stand up because someone near the front is standing. Therefore, it may the norm but it may also not be what most people want to do. Just my viewpoint. I don't have any evidence to prove it. I just don't think that you can take the views of anyone on here, including me, as representing all of the other supporters, many of whom never visit this site. I think you can only put forward your own thoughts, which makes your views just as valid as mine because it can't be proved either way.
Au contraire mon ami, I am highly observant. I just tend to watch the football as opposed to seeing how many fans are sat down so I can come on a football forum and moan about it later.
