With him scoring today the debate will begin again if he should be starting more, to be honest this situation reminds of Kagawa at United, with Mancs always saying start Kagawa and when he did start he was never that special, it's kind of the same thing with Podolski, more often than not when he does start he doesn't make much of an impact, with the Southampton cup game a perfect example of that....But when he does come on as a sub and makes his cameo appearances, he is effective and this leaves fans wanting more and for him to start....For me I personally think Podolski is more of an impact player at the moment than someone who can make the big difference when he starts. If you ask me right now, come Saturday I would drop Wilshere and play Cazorla in the middle, and out wide I'd much prefer OXO and Sanchez down the wings rather than Podolski and Sanchez. I wouldn't be against Podolski starting though. But I do hope to God that Wilshere does not start, he's had his odd good moments this season, but more often than not (becoming one of my favourite lines) has looked like dog ****, he's too light get's easily brushed off the ball, he runs with the ball and keeps at his feet too much, more often than not (told you) he's final balls are poor. The thing we really need to do with Wilshere is add some muscle to the boy, and make him stronger, but sadly that isn't the Arsenal way, Wenger likes the players light and not too bulky-strongish, and that's why we always have a soft centre, and get so many injuries, our players aren't built like machines, but more like ballet dancers.
He is the definition of impact sub. Never good enough to start but if you are in a real pinch put him on and hope.
Sub. Can always get a goal as his end product when he manages to get himself into a decent posistion, is lethal. If this guy was even half decent off the ball, he would be world class, because that left foot is immense.
I think he needs game time tbh I think with a run of games starting might help him get some rythem and perhaps improve his off the bsll movement
Pod could be such a great impact sub if only his work rate was a bit better. As Sanj says, lethal left foot but there's not much else to go with it.

I like Pod, but I don't think he offers enough. Shame because he could be a top class player if had a bit more about him.
Kind of agree with you here 87 but you chose the wrong player. If you had said Hernandez or Solskjaer you would be spot on, both fantastic off the bench but never really did if they started the game
both of those players were the perfect impact sub, but Solskjear actually started a lot of games for Utd too.
He's a lethal finisher but doesn't have enough to his all round game to get regular starts for us. I think he is a great impact sub and could have a part to play this season, particularly due to the injuries we seem to be getting. His form has been off but his late goal the other day was an important one and so I hold hope he can help us out in occasional games.
