Eating Ortolan would come close. So disgusting that only the French indulge. Force feed the poor bird, after you've blinded it, drown it in brandy, roast, then eat whole, spitting out the head and beak only. With a tea towel on your head.
Eating monkey brains while the monkey is still alive is probably the worst meal you can have. You clamp it's head in a hole in the middle of the table, then diners kick it under the table to make the blood rush to it's head, then they chop the top of it's head off and eats it's brain while it's still alive. It's been outlawed pretty much everywhere now, but in the 80's, many expensive restaurants in Hong Kong still had a monkey brain table. I once ate a meal in a restaurant on the Chinese border, where they took a massive garoupa from a tank and put it in a big clay oven and it cooked the fish without killing it, so it's mouth kept opening and closing while you were eating it. It was quite tasty, though I suspect I enjoyed it more than the garoupa.
As opposed to part vegetarian. Is that like my wife"s friend who is vegetarian but eats fish..... and chicken?
Did I tell you all that my car blew up again the other week? No? Well it did. On Anlaby Road, near North Road/Calvert Lane junction. Snap in the engine, smoke out the back, and the steering wheel jammed. Managed to manoeuvre it into a parking bay, get it recovered, and fixed. All kinds of stuff wrong with it that I can't remember/be bothered to list now, but £350 later it's right as rain. True story.
I didn't want to make a thread for it so I feel posting on this one will be just as good. Libertys American Diner is opening this Saturday. 12th July. It's at the old Dorchester Hotel down Beverley Road. 273A Beverley Road is the exact address. 01482 445030 is the telephone number if any of you want to book. The menu is on the Facebook page also.
It's still not quite up and running. If you want any info I can answer, I'll upload a menu onto here later on for you
They're on Facebook or Twatter, I saw the menu the other day. Looks worth a try but it wouldn't call it exciting, basically it's the same stuff you get at every other place of its ilk. Mind you I went to Zillis a couple of weeks back, I'm still digesting the ****ing food, and I've developed a hump like a camel so that I can store it up and not need to eat for the next six weeks. Lovely it was. Bit big though.
Walking before we run. Start of with the simple menu and add things over time and improve other things.
It's very good, massive portions. I went there last week for the second time and it, again, was fantastic.
