One of the 3 best international managers of the period in question.

Are you lot genuinely that thick?

To those that are comparing Suarez to other players you have to consider A) the extent of the achievements of Suarez and balance that up against B) the extent of the disrepute he brought to the game.

Zidane for example - Himself has a great season at club level. Is pivotal in his country reaching the WC final the same year. Exemplary behaviour throughout the season however gets sent off for reacting to provocation from Materazzi.

Suarez - Serves a 10 game ban for biting. Returns to club - himself has a great season at club level, but is only able to demonstrate that in the league. Serves 9 game international ban for biting. Cost his country progressing in the World Cup. Serves 4 month ban in all other competitions.

It really is a no brainer why he hasn't been nominated. You can't just take one incident by another player and compare. A moment of weakness by a player with a well-respected history, compared to a serial offender whose repeated actions resulted in a record ban. It's about the extent of his actions. He really hasn't helped himself.

I hope Diego Simeone wins best manager, but I wouldn't begrudge Ancelotti, I think he's the best manager around at the moment.

    No idea what's funny.

Biting an opponent at a World Cup finals was an embarrassment.

To all the moaners, try reading the nominations rules for the competition btw, it might explain the absence of a nomination for the buck toothed cheat <whistle>

  8. If Lee Hughes played well enough then he'd deserve to be on the list as much as anyone else, its a footballing award!

Ronaldo's been retired for years but since I suspect you mean C.Ronaldo, who said otherwise...? <doh>

  13. Suarez should be on that list and you know just like everyone else knows it. Its not like I'm being biased, Suarez is a **** and I said as much whilst he was still at the club. He's continued to act the **** towards us since leaving too!

TBF, it is just a popularity award just like every other award going. Who watches every minute of every game in every league? You find me a person that does and I'll point to someone that's qualified to judge properly <laugh>

    The rules exclude him.

But on pure footballing terms of course he should, but that's not the only qualifying criteria, so his bite has cost him again. Who cares?

As for the validity of the award, they usually get it about right, but it's subjective not factual, so not everyone will agree with their choice.

Markovic is nominated for the Golden Boy away (guessing it's like best young player in Europe) or something like that.

I know he's been poor so far with us (admittedly only played about 5 games) but shows he must have some potential <ok>

It is obvious a back slap for big names, rather than any true relevance to excellence, same with Messi undeservedly getting the golden ball at the world cup above Neuer. Hopefully the balance will be addressed and Neuer can win this.

The manager list is a joke, once again big names rather than any manager who put a shift in and worked wonders with no money.

He did look like dynamite with Benfica when I saw him play - unfortunately since coming here someone's lit the fuse and he seems to have blown up.

Hopefully he's just settling in and will dramatically improve over the next 18 months. Currently he looks a total shadow of himself. He was brilliant in the Europa league last season, god knows whats happened! I think he even made the team of the tournament?
