Equal pay in sport

Arsenal win the FA cup and get $2,900,000.

Arsenal ladies win the FA cup and get $8,000 hardly enough to keep them in hair care products.

Why do they get so much?

 

Why they getting paid in dollars? 8,000 is way way too much.

 

That looks equal, given the relative standards. If a woman was good enough, they'd command the same as their male team mates.

Isn't the issue really the exclusion of males from womens football? Surely that's sexist?

 

Attract the same sponsorship, play to same standards, play from the same tees, play the same number of sets THEN get paid the same.

That's equality.

 

When women's sport is as exciting and brings in as much sponsorship, TV and crowd money then equal pay is an option, as with Tennis, when it doesn't bring in as much money, then get to f**k springs to mind when people suggest equal pay. What's next? African Cup of nations teams complaining that the winners don't get as much prize money as the Euros and claiming racisim? F**king stupid

 

Let's just have women and men compete together on equal terms.

Then we'll see how much they earn.

Female footballers can get the same when the FA Women's Cup gets over 10 million viewers.

It's all about commercial revenue. Why should they get the same when no one else gives a flying f** women's football?

 

Very true. People mistake 'equality' for 'equal opportunity'

 

supply and demand, simple as. agree with all so far that disagreed. don't give a toss about tennis, but when men and women play the same number of sets, they can have the same prize money.

 

I tell you what infuriates me - the movement to give 'equal pay' for men and women at Wimbledon. I am 100% behind equality but by making the prize money the same they are NOT paying equally, considering the men can play a third more games. I have absolutely no issue with paying the same amount of prize money but in that evntuality they should play the same amount of games - so either the men become best of 3 sets or the women best of 5.

By paying the same but not playing the same the men are being discriminated against. Simple as.

Now that is inequality, after much whinging, arm flailing, foot stamping, gnashing of teeth, along with plenty of blah blah blah the splitters prize money at Wimbledon is the same as the mens.

Why? Gaggle of 3 set shirkers.

2. My keyboard don't have a pound sign and i have no idea where to find one ( and don't care )

3. If i had converted dollars to pounds some pedantic t**t would have disputed the exchange rate.

Sport should be equal, and men should compete with women. Having separate events over gender necessitates a division in standards. Thus where there is a division in standards, there should be a division in pay, same as the workplace. Whoever is better should get more money. There's no reason a woman can't become technically superior to males in most sports. They should stop being lazy and blaming everyone else!
