I've unignored Daiswan for now as I felt like shooting some fish that were swimming around in a barrel I came across. Too entertaining to pass up so enjoy, guys: "Bony is a bit overrated by some on here and you can see how the big teams refused to take a chance on him.....nowhere near good enough... " Or: "...there is only so many excuses you can give bony and for me he is looking like a one season wonder just like michu. Bony is not earning his wages atm and i dont think he will this season, He looks poor, his finishing is poor and his positioning is poor.." Or: "Bony has been a Huge disappointment.." Or, for the Grand Finale: "Drop Bony and play emms and we may win....." "you got to get up early to try and discredit me im afraid " Looks like my 5.00am alarm call paid off then. I'm seriously thinking of not ignoring you now just so you can make me do this every time you post: View attachment 33978
Contrast that with Ruud Gullit's comments on MOTD: "He's always in good positions and makes himself available" "I like him. He works very hard." "A goal machine at Vitesse and it's no surprise he's done that in the English game." "Do you know what it means to have a sriker who can hold the ball up like that?" "Beautiful football" Your choice - a multi-award winning footballer who has played at the highest level or a nobody on a forum.
Not scoring is not the same as 'not performing'. Ask Monk who only today has said that Bony's contribution has been excellent even when he hasn't been scoring. Exactly what most of the posters here have been saying as a matter of fact. Seems you disagree with the Manager, then.
He won't quit, Roof. Trust me. Don't think Bony was brought into the team for his tackling but he does seem the best header of the ball we have and shows that defensively at times.
Bobby. I know that Bony wasn't scoring - everybody does! But to say he missed some "embarrassing sitters" and that he was "poor" and "out of position" was just wrong - and most of us said so at the time. What's more, Monk agrees with that. Glad to see that Bony let his football do his talking and nipped this silly hate campaign in the bud, at least for now.
Our crossing - the one exception being Montero - has been true to form this season .... leaves a lot to be desired. This is a big disadvantage to Bony. His body strength, leap, and heading technique are a huge advantage over defenders and other forwards and we just don't leverage it. It's criminal. He has instead started to show us that he has great ability to play off the defenders, drop deeper to get involved in plays and make finesse plays around the box. And his near post defense is probably the best in the league. What we paid for him is a steal.
Bony has missed a few sitters that I am certain of, but he is looking very sharp these last few games, and we are starting to give him service with the ball in front of him, he must be one of if not the best striker at holding up the ball to bring the midfield into play in the Premier League, not even Scotland was this good at holding up the ball for us. When Bony gets the service correctly you can see from the Leicester game how simple and deadly Bony can be. And lets not forget Bony has not hit his best yet, that is still to come!........
I agree, Phill but I honestly can't think of any 'sitters' apart from one and even that's debateable as the ball was coming to him at speed - Montero's lashed cross v Burnley. Strikers having a pop at goal will always miss some, but that doesn't make them all 'sitters'. Also, I'm not sure where this "always out of position" nonsense came from either. Looks like one of our former players is of the view Bony is currently better than Balotelli: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29797124
Don't know anything about that, to be honest. Bony has missed about what I call 4 sitters, two were headers, one he tapped straight at the keeper, and another was a blatant open goal miss, this was early season, don't ask me which games, I can't be bothered, but all strikers miss sitters from time to time, and while Bony has had a slow start, we all new he'd fire up sooner than later, the guy is just class!.........
Unlike Balotelli.... Difficult argument though. Different kinds of player aren't they? Bony is a solid player in more ways than one and much more of a team player with his assists. Balotelli can score out of nothing on his day and can be truly world class, but is beyond selfish imo. "blatant open goal miss" ? What you smoking? Bottom line is that even the best strikers on the planet go through patches. You have to keep the faith with them as a fan instead of rubbishing them. It's a cliche but true - good players don't become bad ones overnight.
You almost appear to be having a conversation with yourself within that comment I've said I won't speak about Mario again until I have something positive to say so I won't say what I think other than point out that I never wanted him and although I agree about the 'on his day' bit, his day comes once in a blue moon! I wasn't having a pop at Bony or you Swans for for highlighting his inclusion in Garth's team of the week. However, Crook does just the players that score most of the time. I've never agreed on a team he's selected which can be expected since its a game of opinions and the chances of agreeing on eleven from a possible 280 that played is unlikely, but you would expect to agree with some of his selections (around five or six) or see why he's selected them.
Well it is a team of that particular week, not more than that and I guess virtually everyone would disagree every week. As for talking to myself - I do that a lot. No ****er here listens to me anyway.
