He can try. If Jay has any sense he'll look at how well the other goners are doing, and then spy Spurs position in the table [assuming its no different to now]. Besides, it can't have escaped Jay's notice that Koeman is an upgrade on Pochypoo. Unless he's a total mercenary he'll stay or go to a team capable of getting into the CL, and that isn't Spurs. I would say Liverpool if he doesn't stay, and that won't be until the summer, in my opinion. And that's depending upon Liverpool making it as well, and that's nothing like a given.
If they offered 30m in January when he's only been back for a month, I'd bite their hand off. Could well be injury prone and will take a while, if ever, to get back to his best.
At the moment that's Shane Long and no doubt a different method of playing. When Jay comes back he certainly won't be a shoo-in. The Cup competitions will be his introduction, so it's probably a very good idea if we win on Wednesday.
If we carry on like we are into the transfer window and we stay 2nd-7th and Spurs remain mid table and he still wants to move. Let him. Hopefully instead he's realised how stupid everyone else was and is now worrying how he's gonna get in to his own club's first team.
Not sure we ever were. Certainly not now. Didn't Reed or Koeman give blank looks and say, no thanks, at one point..?
I doubt Spurs have the money we would be looking for. Their only signings above 20m (signed with incoming Bale money) haven't come off. They got the manager as they thought he could work with whats there and within a budget. Levy wont sanction what will be a pricey move if current form doesn't greatly improve.
Jay has 18months left on his contract, if he really wants to go and refuses a new contract then we will get £20m max for him. I just hope if he still is set on leaving his injury has ****ed him up. Regarding Poch playing his faves that he never drops even if they play poorly, I have heard this before. Even a few Saints and ex Saints players have said it.
Kidman doesn't rotate the squad much, either. If it weren't for International games and injuries, we'd have the same XI just about every time. Gardos rarely plays, for example though he easily could start IMO. If we get offered 15m for Rodriguez in January, I'd probably take it. Though I'm also happy to have him here. If he can get healthy in time, he will get a chance when Mane is at ACON.
Jay has been quiet through all this, which is the right way to behave. The club said there has been no offer for him...which makes sense because of his injury. Although great to have the old JRod back, we are doing well without him. Koeman has never known a fit JRod, so may be perfectly happy to have a different player. Mauricio is not doing well at Spurs...will he be allowed to sign a player in January who will not be fully recovered. All that adds up to a situation where nothing is clear. Unless Jay is fully committed, a decent price and I can see no problem in moving him on. Spurs seems to be struggling...shame We have upgraded....happy days. The language problem there can only be decisive...should take a lesson from Wenger...he forbade any language but English in the dressing room or on the training ground.
