Why would you have a picture of the mascots on the walls? Colours are all good and well but the mascots? Or is that a kids room, and if so then it's fine.

Interesting how it has been Parkers since circa 1904.

Clearly a name change and a lick of paint and they'll be beating off the punters with a ****ty stick. Whether it is a decent pub has no potential bearing on its chances of success obviously.

Assam will clearly be there for a lemonade on matchdays. How could he not.

I bet that lass from JD Sports will love it.

Especially the half and half toilets. That should accommodate those fans who holiday, on a worryingly frequent basis, in Thailand.

The owner's a Wessie, more than a good enough reason for them never to see any of my money

that's not quite right. for many years it was the newington hotel though it was still known as parker's to many people.

I was basing it on a quick skim of the article which said it was the Newington until just after the start of the 20th century, i.e. c.1904. No clue if that was accurate though.

On re-reading, it was only "known" as Parkers since about 1900. Its congruent with Allam saying we have been call Hull City Tigers for 110 years I guess ;)

yep, for sure. i used to live near it and for a time went in regularly with some friends. not sure when it changed to parker(')s as it's real name, but at some point at or after 1990ish. this was the article i checked on, probably the same one you read: http://www.carnegiehull.co.uk/the-anlaby-road/history/anlaby-road-history-21.html

Do you remember Smelly Dick? He used to be in there every single night. Always wore a benny hat to hide his bald head. Lived down Ruskin St. Probably passed away now but was always in there in the 80's and 90's.
