its the way he comes off his marker so he has that 1/2 a yard just in case the ball comes to him , Great players think about the game not just play it

On the FL show they said it was Deeney's first away goal since April. If you look into it further, that goal in April was in our last away game of the season. This season he played in the first 4 away league games of the season before getting injured, one of which was Norwich where we were a man light for most of the game then he only had 10 minutes at Wednesday when he wasn't match sharp.

Well, I haven't read back but here's my take. We were bad in the first half. We lacked energy and fight and were lucky to not be at least a goal down by half time. It was a lazy, lack lustre performance and frustrating to watch. We started the second half a little better but once they scored and Deeney came on we completely changed and could have gone on to win the game. Losing gomes was unfortunate, Bond was as flappy as ever and doesn't give me confidence through he is a good shot stopper when not under pressure. He can't command the box though, we definitely need a good number 2. Pudil is a concern. He has been beaten way too easily lately and seems off the pace. Parades had an uncharacteristically bad game and perhaps needs a break. Anya was insignificant until he moved to the left in the second half, where Scotland play him, and he was so much better than usual! So, generally a good second half and an awful first half made this the right result and it is thrilling to know that we have a head coach who can see where the problems are and react to them as well as making perfect substitutions. A positive day, 5 points from 3 difficult games and still up there. Onwards and upwards! :)

I have similar opinions to H_TID but with notable differences. The first half was shocking - 3-0 would not have surprised me. However, this seemed to be down to our formation which was very odd. Anya in midfield and Fessi on the left wing made it very easy for boro to defend. We seemed very uncertain as to where our attacking options were. Also, we left acres of space at the back on the wings - no wonder Pudil & paredes (in particular) had a bad time. Why we played this way only the head coach can explain. But we allowed Boro to look good and gain confidence. Anyway, most people think deeney made all the difference. for me it was moving anya to the wing and bringing on Andrews to give more balance to the midfield. suddenly we knew where players were and the passing became much crisper, and boro looked, well, ordinary. I thought Bond had a good game, (his 1st half save was brilliant) except , (like all Chamberlain-developed 'keepers seemingly), he doesn't command his area and tell the defence what he wants. In that respect, Gomes is a revelation.
The good news is that we did recognise the problem, did change the system, and did wrestle a point from unpromising circs. and most other teams around us were more dismal, judging by the results. wolves winning at leeds was fine 'cos it was Leeds.
Looking ahead, 2 wins in next 2 games (millwall brum) puts us on target for 92 points. Can't be bad. also, if our large stringsquad is going to prove itself, it will be in December (i.e. beforetransfer windows re-open and teams are looking stretched) and again in March - usually our bad month.

And another thing. On paper, boro vs Watford was the standout fixture (based on league position) on Sat. The BBC league highlights programme honoured this fixture with NO aftermatch comments, and NO analysis. Are we pleased to stay 'below the radar' or does the Daily Mail control the BBC content ?

Well I guess we had been on twice in recent times (not very successfully) but was surprised no comment was made about either side.

The manager puts our "lacklustre" 1st half down to tiredness from not enough rotation - I know its the modern way but hopefully we don't meddle too much with the team.

Hardly got any sort of a mention whatsoever, right through to the league tables "Derby remain top and are Wolves up to third" sort of thing. Scripted by the loo town half of the 3CR set up no doubt... Maniche and co were so excited about them being top of League 2 I thought they were going to soil themselves.
