Every single time Audi/Porsche/Volkswagen/another big car manufacturer gets brought up it immediately disappears because of Jaguar, BMW, and... just the sheer associated costs is too much even not considering the poor marketing if they lost.

I'd love to see it but I can't.

It would be great, but I can't see it myself.

Audi won't touch F1. They have all their success elsewhere.

What with all the troubles of Caterham and Marussia, and the rumours of three-car teams, maybe that's the reason why we haven't heard from Alonso yet.

    Rosberg/Hamilton/Alonso would be crazy.

Audi Sport - #Audi in F1? There rumors keep appearing with regularity since years. It's pure speculation again this time and without any foundation

No smoke without fire. I wonder if a company like VW would now be forced into F1 as Mercedes are now getting the limelight. They can leave Porsche in WEC and move Audi to F1. The Audi brand is now stale in WEC so putting them in F1 makes total sence.

Audi have already conquered WEC. Let's be honest, as impressive as that is, it'll never get them the publicity being successful in F1 would. It's a logical step given they now promote similar tech.

wouldn't be too shocked to see Porsche make an appearance at some stage too, or BMW again for that matter.

If Honda can make a comeback after chucking it for cost reasons, any maker can come back.

Don't see Ford or GM doing so though.

I thought Audi were put off by the lack of transferable technology between F1 and road cars? That's change a little, but not dramatically. I still can't see it myself, much as I'd like it to happen.

I disagree. The whole Hybrid turbo Ers/Kers/Harvesting under braking is something that is starting to filter onto road cars (albeit very high performance ones for now).

Anyone got an Autosport Plus subscription? They've got an article up analysing the chances of the four drivers in contention for the second Toro Rosso seat.

    Thanks Westy!

Interesting, I honestly hadn't considered Vergne keeping the seat. I wonder if they might put him in for the first half of the season to help Max and then replace him with one of the youngsters, then?

I'd imagine that Vergne would want some guarantee of staying the whole season otherwise he'll just be in the same boat come summertime. Having said that, Red Bull generally haven't usually cared that much about what their drivers think. I'm going to say it'll be Sainz Jr because Red Bull/Torro Rosso would look a little silly if they re-signed Vergne after saying he wasn't good enough.

As soon as Kvyatt was confirmed at RBR, I mentioned if Torro Rosso would consider keeping JEV on for experience.

Having a very very very very young new rookie, with a slightly less younger rookie, could not be good for them. Nothing wrong with two new drivers, but the ones they were looking at just seemed a bit too raw to be put in an F1 team together.

I would love to see Audi and or VW in F1, much like RB and the sister team Toro Rosso. Maybe huge names are what the sport needs at the moment.

I really don't want to see a big influx of manufacturers as they have a tendency to get bored and leave. Then we'll go through the same cycle over and over. :(

I agree with you on this, but i have to admit that I'd like to see more variety of engine manufacturers.
