    Erm, the 'dot' as you call it, is in actual fact a punctuation mark known as a 'period'.

    It's used to indicate an end of sentence, or in the previous case was used to punctuate a sentence into simpler word sized sentences to help you understand a post you professed not to understand by asking for clarification.

    To whit...
