http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...ntains-no-air-ride-nails-shattered-glass.html Puncture proof tyres made of squidgy foam. I've tried Kevlar tyres (great but expensive) and inserts (fiddly to fit properly), but these might be the simple solution to puncture problems.
Having had 2 punctures in the last month, this should would be a great thing to have, I guess it's success will depend on the cost.
I hate punctures. So even if it was a bit more expensive I'd probably pay to save having to repair/change by the side of the road, esp in bad weather. Also would mean wouldn't have to carry the stuff needed to repair/change one etc. Guess the cost would maybe average out at not that much more expensive.
Looks like good stuff. Someone reinventing the wheel. I realise it's totally different material, but a reservation goes back to the days of my childhood, when we had fairy bikes with solid tyres. The worked ok, but when they failed, it was total. The tyre tended to split laterally across the rim and un wind off it. I guess, if it's a realistic issue at all, they could set the composition so that this was only liable to happen once the tread was way bejond usable. But it does seem to lend itself to recutting a tread in the tyre. The old tyres didn't have the same feel or grip, and I wonder if there's any way of adjusting the percieved pressure? Some like a loose, low pressure tyre, others like them pumped to the max. All in all, it's certainly got potential.
They do indeed spoil the day John. Lots of swearing when I'm changing an innertube. I like my tyres pumped to the max Shirl.
I wonder how they fit on the rim? I swap slicks for nobbly on the mountain bike depending what I'm doing. I wonder how much of a job that is? Maybe, there could be a solid innertube that would work as a slick, that could also accomodate a nobbly sleeve.
My current tyres have done about 5000 puncture free miles, thanks to kevlar strips. Can't remember how much they cost, got them from Winstanleys on Anlaby Rd. They're starting to split on the sidewalls now.
Says they have a range of about 6,000 miles and start at £90 per pair. I change mine now at about 1,200 miles so that would work out cheaper over the years factoring in innertubes/pumps etc.
My son in law has the cycle shop in Pock, I will go in tomorrow and see if he will be getting these in.

Where about in Pock is it? I sometimes do a clinic there at the health centre. Is it George St or am I just making that up? Do your friends get discount?
On market street, there is a Nat West (Near Costa Coffee) on the corner of a small lane it is just up there. As you walk up you will see Niks Barbers which is my daughters place, which is opposite her husbands bike shop called Cycle Lane. Edit: His name is Nick, just tell him John told you about it. I will tell him you may go in and to give you a good price.
Charlie get new tyres AND get your hair done, mention John, and get a discount on both! Btw, I thought punctures were karma's way of reminding you of what will happen to you when you jump a red light, or undertake a bus/lorry??
