Who was at fault? I take it Mannone was at fault for one of them going off this thread?

It's a catch-22 for Poyet, if he drops him his confidence will get even worse, if he plays him he's playing a 'keeper short on confidence.

Pellegrini dropped Hart and he come back better (not than ever), it maybe good for the lad but only if Pantilimon is in good shape. The fella is huge, maybe something as simple as that can turn the tables on your recent clusterfuck.

Second goal for Arsenal was a terrible backpass from (IMO) our second worst player on the day (Buckley - Brown was the worst) but Mannone should've cleared it instead of dallying about with it on his six yard line. First goal was all Wes!!

I'd take him out of the firing line personally and stick Pantillimon in next Monday. I think Mannone has been to blame for 4 goals in 2 games. We can't afford that and he's under a bit of pressure now with Pantillimon in the wings.

TT - the first one was a huge screw up by Wes he was off balance and tried to hit a back pass about 35-40 yards out but the ball went about 5 yards and Sanchez ran clean through. Vito went down anticipating a low shot and Sanchez chipped him. The second was a backpass inside the 6 yard area with 2 or 3 Arsenal attackers nearby - Vito made a complete hash of the clearance but imo should never have been put in that position. Its this play the ball out at all times attitude when sometimes you just have to welly it out. The second goal was in injury time anyway so it probaly did not affect the result. I think Poyet needs to moitor what Vito's mental state is before deciding which keeper plays the next game

I agree totally. BUT I honestly think they'd have been applauded off the field at 0-1 without that massive **** up at the end. Had Arsenal scored a breakaway goal instead of thsat massive **** up or a 30 yard screamer I think the crowd would've reacted differently. Unfortunately, they got booed from the field due a monumental double **** up - if not for 2 stupid mistakes, we'd have had a point! I suppose that is a positive to take from the game. If we stop putting pretty tape and bows on the gifts, we might be OK

From what I read, Arsenal weren't that good. Was that because you kept them quiet or because they just didn't turn up?

Are you lot worried after that performance?

David De Gea was bang in form yesterday, poor sod got let down again by a disorganised defence... funnily enough I got home to see that Courtois was given MOTM... <doh>

Yes I agree they probably would of but I just think that Mannone is taking a lot of stick when really some of his teamates should be shouldering some of the blame. At Soton we were already 2 - 3 down through no fault of his before he made a mistake and yet the spotlight seems to be on him. If you look at the goal last week when he fluffed the clearance and Tadic put it straight back in the net - yes Mannone made a mess of it but should he have been put in that position in the first place? as I say I believe its the "pass it out at all costs" which is causing us problems the opp know that they just need to press hard on our back 4 and this will create turnovers

We kept them at bay mostly - gifted them 2 goals. We didn't play that badly all in all. Wes Brown and Will Buckley were woeful. Mannone had nothing to do until the 93rd minute when he fluffed his lines after being put into a poor position by a woeful backpass from the aforementioned Buckley!

As for De Gea - I said to my Dad last season he was going to be a very good keeper and my Dad laughed at me... I reminded him when I spoke to him yesterday about it and he has conveniently forgotten!!

Buckley, seemed full of beans against us. Just had a look at your match report, how comes Fletcher got turfed off after 50 minutes, like for like replacement, surely 1-0 down you keep them both on?

De Gea's been immense lately mate, seems he's stepping up to the mark when we need him to most since the defenders don't seem to be able to. His distribution is the best in the world. The other keeper Courtois, he's some 'keeper as well... total unit. A leader at the back will do DDG a world of good, hopefully that'll get sorted in January.

Tel, we were well organised and it was a solid performance, didn't put them under any pressure but considering the pace they had we did very well indeed. Just two silly back passes where people defending would rather pass the buck than deal with it themselves. Sick of vito being treat like an out field player. Fact is is that Buckley is both footed as able to hook it out regardless of the angle he's facing, but he was tracking back too quickly with no control, took it right off his own defender and passes it straight onto Vito's weak foot.

Which would you not do Terry? Leave it to the defender who's in position to clear it with his strong right foot, clear it himself with having two established feet, pass it to the keepers strongest right foot, or pass it into the keepers weaker left foot with a 4 yard pass. Buckley put it into the keepers weak foot.

I hate Garth Crooks but even he is saying it was defencive errors and that we should not putting a keeper under that kind of pressure constantly. It's just common sense. Give Vito a bit of protection, it is the whole point of the defence, fact is we're creating more chances for our opponents than we are ourselves by putting our own keeper under unnecessary pressure.

Fletcher was injured mate unfortunately. Buckley looked good against you lot but then didn;t start the next week which I couldn't understand. We ended with Wickham and Altidore (who my son calls Anti-score!) and had a few sniffs at goal - Altidore had a decent chance but fluffed his lines again. I was kind of hoping it was anyone but Sanchez running through! Had it been someone like Walcott then I'd have fancied a chance or two of him missing - Sanchez is a good player though.

You've got to be looking at picking up points in your next 3 games really, minimum 4/5, this 'panicking' at the back will have Palace and Everton launching balls into the box from minute 1. Liverpool are suffering as well, set pieces it is with them, they can't seem to defend. I bet Pardew goes long ball into the box all game in the New v Liv fixture.

I think it might be worth starting Pantilimon for that reason, he'll scoop balls out of the air all day long that bloke.

You will have seen this one many times before, mate. Arsenal played in Europe mid week so they just wanted to do enough to get through the game. We let them to be honest. They had makeshift defense with Monreal at center back. We should have gone balls for glory....you know two big lads in the box....blood and snots type of thing in their faces....we didn't put them under it. Then we committed suicide.....
