I'm a little terrified starting an OT thread in case I upset anybody, but I'm gonna do it anyway! After the Russell Brand bashing thread I become curious as to which tv personality/comedian anybody here finds funny! I struggle to think of anybody who I find funny enough to make me laugh out loud. I get a laugh out of shows like Would I Lie to You! I find the people can be funny on that, and its probably due to not all of them being comedians. I remember I found Terry Wogan to be quite witty on it once! TERRY WOGAN!!!! David Mitchell and Lee Mack can be witty on it but I find their other tv/stand up efforts not particularly funny. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Tom Green cracks me up big time. Prefer sit coms and sketch shows to stand up though. That Dave Gorman on Dave my humor has been likened to. I use complaining for humor, doesn't translate on here though as it relies on body language and tone of voice. I come across serious on here but it's really not case. I spend my life with a permanent grin.
I love David Mitchell and Lee Mack on that programme, I find them hilarious at times. I like QI as well. Stand up. I've always liked Chubby, I think Peter Kay, Michael McIntyre, Micky Flanagan, Jason Manford are all hilarious, they are my kind of humour.
Good. His show on Dave is just a grumpy bloke letting off steam. That poem thing he does from comments on Youtube is a rip off of Adam Buxton but without anything funny to it.
All time would be Billy Connelly and his incontenance pants, Les dawson on the Shirley bassey show, Don rickles on Frank sinatra's roast, Bill hicks talking about UFO's visiting Allabama. Eric Morecambe was to me the fastest/quick wit comedian.
It's the sort of **** i pick on and amuses me, He's got a team of researchers though like that prick with the cross eye, That Russel Howard, his show moving to bbc2 is a disgrace. Love Family Guy, probably one of the funnest show on tv for a decade. Most of my dvd collection is comedy from the 80s and 90s. Not a lot of new comedy on at the moment that floats my boat tbh
To the OP, Terry Wogan was/is very witty As for Eric Morcambe, surely being put on the spot on Parkinson is a great litmus test. I recall he made a personal heart attack outrageously funny, pure genious. There are many comics who do the rounds who are by far funnier than those in mainstream media and that will always be/has been the case. Those still in the bright media spotlight for me; Ross Noble, Eddie Izzard, Paul Merson, Will Self
The Goon Show and Mighty Boosh. Weird stuff but very inventive. Love milton Jones and Tim Vine for their oneliners and puns. Al Murray is proper laugh out loud. Seen him a couple of weeks ago in Durham, sides aching when we left.
I think Russell Howards show is 10x the show of Dave gormans. Still not the best, but an easier watch.
Would have to agree with Shy TK regarding Milton Jones n Tim Vine. Jones especially could even be an alien. Deffo on a different planet to us.
