Another record passed today. Saints have recorded more points from the first 9 games than they've ever managed in the top flight. That includes the special sides of the early 1980's. That's a wowee stat, I think. I bet Channon, Keegan, Moran, Williams, Wallace, Holmes, Armstrong, et al are loving it so far. If I believed in an afterlife I'd hope Alan Jr was having a Ball too.
Tadic seemed to struggle a bit after his injury. Don't think we needed Long, though. We did throw Wanyama and later Gardos on so we were tight at the back. Didn't need to defend from the front at that point. Also Tadic and Mane are both pretty good defenders anyway. Where the team could have done slightly better was not trying so many long lead passes and giving up possession quite so easily. Minor quibble though, they did well. I'm sure Long will draw the start during the week and it is better to have him fresh. I do feel like Koeman could stand to make a few more subs, especially to get some of the youngsters some playing time. But this was not the game.
Quite a lot of stuff has been said recently about our easy run of fixtures. How come there are no easy fixtures when the Arsenals, Chelseas and Cities struggle but the only reason we win is the poor opposition? I guess we're just that good.
If all else fails read the information provided We are block 35, so you probably didn't hear us.... Next game, will try again. Did you go with: "All we need is Sadio mane, Sadio Mane Sadio, saints fans do love you"
Just remembered something. About this time last season I made a thread entitled "Mystic Nutmeg" where I invited you all to predict Saints League position on Christmas day. Posters were only allowed to choose a slot which had not been bagged. Doesn't seem much point doing the thread this season. First one to choose 2nd would probably get it
Don't think it has already been mentioned, but did you see Mane run over to Ron and give him a hug after Mane scored? They were both genuinely delighted - shows amazing spirit through the entire team (including the manager). It's a great time to be a Saints fan!
The second commentator on SNF Match Choice seemed a bit Stoke biased, who was it? When Dusan got the knee in the back he said there was no contact, so if the Stoke player didn't do it who did, have we got poltergeists?
Well, the referee didn't give the knee in the back as a foul, so clearly it couldn't have been a Stoke player. I think this poltergeist theory may need investigating. I suggest that we organise an exorcism of the ground. Either that, or get a ref that actually sees what is happening
'This is showing how to play 433. Two quality wingers and two quality fullbacks who overlap. A solid midfield and a striker who holds it up. We look useless so far' taken from Stoke's Oatcake forum.
