The thing is when you are losing swantastic you will find that they will try harder in the second half. I thought we coped well with the little pressure they gave us. I was not worried about using any subs if its not needed. If you are seen to be not in any trouble then why use subs when it could easily change things for the worst as it is to improve things...
Balottelli and Van Persie have been crap. Bony hasn't as 4 goals in his last 3 games would suggest. There's a difference between doing f all and a striker who is on a bad run.
Also a good manger would know how to use their subs for the positive. That's the difference between the premier league and all the others below it.
Bony - showed what he can do with decent service from midfield. Still don't like him coming back to halfway to get the ball though, shows that as a team we're dropping too deep imo, allowing opposition midfield to apply pressure unchallenged Siggy was great today, hope his injury is just a niggle Subs - Monk was keeping his powder dry, no point making substitutions just for the sake of it imo especially with Siggy going off so early. Routs and Bony started to flag at the end and were sub'd when they needed to be. Won 4 - Lost 3 - Drawn 2 = 14pts and 6th with a poor run of results, Happy days. C'mon Chelsea
I can imagine the usual claptrap from the usual poster (probably backtracking) but sooooo glad I don't have to read it. Just got in and well pleased with the result but still have some concerns about the way we're playing. 1: We're still dropping off in the second half and there's a noticeable lack of intensity, not for the first time this season. 2: Giving the ball away far too much. Better teams will thrive on that. Concentration levels? 3: We seem incapable of breaking quickly as a team, slowing the play down and allowing almost the entire opposition team to get back behind the ball. Having said that, the goals were well worked, Bony and Siggy's link up play is going to be pivotal for us this season; Montero tried all day - credit to De Lait for keeping tabs on him for at least part of the game; and Fernandez looks to be improving, as predicted. Shoutout for Ki - another assured display from our unflappable Korean.
Other teams that tried harder second half lately had it a bit easier when the lads dropped back off the pace, luckily our oponents today were poor. the next few games will be a real test to how they have learnt from it ?
Are you disagreeing that he has scored 4 goals in 3 games? Penalty or no, you can't argue with the stats
I'm a bit disappointed today, I predicted a 2-1 win for us, but the football gods were not having it!.............
