    Berahino looks canny. I seem to remember someone on our board advocating spending the Riviere money on him. Honestly how much would he be worth now? Him, Will Hughes, all going great guns and worth the big pennies instead of all this bargain basement rubbish.

    I'm not a fan of Berahino, because he offers very little in open play. He's a scrappy poacher, and when he's not in form he's absolutely useless.

    Fair play to him, he's been in a bit of form recently, and it seems snooty of me to turn my nose up at a goalscorer... But we already have Cisse, who's a better version <ok>

    Ok but 6m on Riviere (who is not only **** but has a weird look), or 10m on Berahino who at least turns up now and again. Him and Cisse competing at the sharp end, with SDJ and Perez competing for the other 10 role.

    Will Hughes is fantastic. You know it.

    That recent U21 game said it all.

    If we were gonna buy him, it should have been when he was out of favour when him and Morrison were at loggerheads. £10 million upwards for a back-up is too rich for our blood.

    <laugh> stop going on about the bloody U21s... Look at all the crap that gets games at U21 level and look good... Half of them fall out of the game or end up playing League 2 or below... Ravel Morrison was U21 Messi FFS!!! I think Hughes is decent, but I don't think he's anything special.

    He is ripping up the Championship, the U21s. He is the most awesome man on the planet bar me.

    Morrison - Another player we should have looked at...............but no we pay mid range fees for foreign garbage

    Not Ravel Morrison - that wannabe can get to f**. Ex Boro boy James Morrison - very much underrated. I'd have taken another Man U reject though, Shawcross. Way better than clowns like Saylor, Willo or Mbiwa.

    I do like Morrison, and Brunt to be honest. They usually turn it on against us similar to Ryan Taylor at Wigan!

    Shawcross is a solid player too, but he's a penalty magnet at the moment because the spotlight is on the holding he always does.

    Presume Ryan's had better suitors than us in his career, surely, so there must be concerns with price-tag or wages. Think he'll see out his career with Stoke unfortunately, which probably means he'll never get the games for England he perhaps should get.

    I see both Gateshead and Blyth Spartans are through to the first round of the FA Cup Proper, and Shildon and Spennymoor have replays. Could be a better year than usual in the FA Cup for the non-league teams in the area.

    Just heard on the radio that shildon are one of the lowest ranked teams left in the competition. Good on them, hope they can get to the first round proper, bonuses all round.
