Winning major international competitions doesn't count ?. -Ok i guess Rio is twice as good as Ramos .
Yeh. Easily at his best. Kompany is overrated. Hes not in that top bracket but is considered world class by todays standards simply due to a lack of quality centrebacks. Same with ramos, silva, benetia and even hummels. Very good players but below the very best. I would put kompany and back problem rio on par. Prone to a lapse and not great at recovery but intelligent enough to predict the attackers next move most of the time.
And youre comparing a player you see play every week right now to some hazy memories clouded by your obvious dislike of him. Its not what you would call fair and unbiased tbh tobes.
He was a top drawer CB in his prime, he wasn't the best there's ever been or twice as good as the best of the current crop - fact. So it's you who's being far from objective here fella.
I just think the art of defending has died and the current crop are well below the standards set. I mean who of yesteryears star defenders would todays crop displace? Would kompany start for united 06-09? Or for chelsea with terry amd Carvalho? Arsenal with adams and campbell or bruce amd pallister at united? Would he displace nesta, lucio, hierro, blanc, hansen etc etc. Thats all i am saying. Hes nowhere near tye levels set before. Nor is silva or any defender playing today.
No, because of his choc ice comments and stupid ****ing tweets about Liar Liar and other stuff, when he should have just shut his mouth and let the authorities deal with it.
No doubt you think Terry is a top bloke despite the fact he called another player a black ****! Tribalism, undeniable!
No, Terry's a cock. Drug dealing, pikey parents, selling tours of SB on the Snide......complete ****tard
Shame these things always turn into a pissing contest. Rio was a brilliant centre-back. Easily one of the best to have played the game. He was a footballer as much as he was a defender. One of the few defenders who can bring a ball out to over the half way line. I remember when he returned from his ban, first game back, in top shape, match fit and against Liverpool. Absolutely bossed it, and the papers the next day, massive headlines like Rio Grand! Other thing that gets overlooked was our period of dominance from 2007-2009. While Ronaldo was getting all the plaudits, our success was built on clean sheets. Rio Ferdinand (in a partnership with Vidic) was the best around. As soon as his back injuries started, he missed games and was never the same again. THAT is the only reason he hasn't continued at United. Had he not had those injuries, he would have continued far far longer than Vidic because of his reading of the game. Sadly his body can no longer keep up with his footballing brain.
Yeh but treble, he talks funny and uses the word merk so is clearly a **** football and a worse human being...
