they all have good reason for doing what they do.

Not necessarily...most are just pains. I always stayed till the end of night matches at The Dell even when I had to run to catch the last ferry. If I missed it, I had to go on the car ferry which went to the wrong town and involved a taxi round to my car. I still stayed till the end.

Dellboy, you have completely mis interpreted my view. I was sticking up for the fella saying that he shouldn't have had to "feel" like he would be keeping people waiting and I felt sorry for him. I have made zero judgement on him, none whatsoever.

No shame on me. Simple misunderstanding of my view.

As long as those who leave early and go for a beer / pie during the play aren't the same ones that are then moaning about the price of tickets the it isn't as bad.

Am I the only person who couldn't give a crap about people leaving their seats early?! Maybe it's because I'm standing in the Northam that it doesn't bother me so much.

I'm not sure what that says about you:emoticon-0105-wink: Everyone who leaves early has a good reason for doing so even if it wouldn't be a good reason for you.

I've never, ever understood people kicking up a fuss at others leave early (although I can see that for people sat on an end of row like Jen, it must get quite annoying). I don't care if someone wants to leave 30 seconds early or 15 mins early. They've paid their money. Tickets are hardly cheap these days. If they don't want to get 100% value out of their ticket by watching every single second, then that is their choice.

I would never choose to leave a game, and would never choose to arrive at a game late (in all my time of going to football, only once have I ever been late - traffic was truly awful that day). But that's me. What others choose to do does not impact me.

People standing during a game to block your view though, forcing you to have to stand too. Well that's a completely different ball game. I'm buying a seat, I want to sit down. What right do some people have to take that away from me (and others)?

But loads of others did. <grr> Some of them are a joke. Sorry but it has to be said. There was a constant stream of people leaving from 80 minutes onwards and the team needed their support.

I guess we're all part of the problem now. In ye olde days you wouldn't leave early 'cos if you missed a goal or something that was it. Unless on Match of the Day (for young 'uns, not all 1st division games/goals were shown, just a select 2-3) tough. You could not access youtube or a dodgy russian site for the highlights. The fact that I can watch almost all Saints games on a live internet stream does affect my decision to go to a match. I'm sure I'd attend many more games if all these ways to view or catchup were not available. So it's not surprising that some anxious travelers sneak off early.

Yeah it didn't look good watching on the stream. Saints fans leaving in their droves, with the game hanging in the balance.

One of my no-nos is commentators who point out "he could have gone down there" every time there is any minimal contact in the box, yet cry out that the heart of the game is dead whenever anyone dives. What's the difference???

Leaving early on a day like today is a no no for me. You have issues and need to leave 5 minutes early, that's fine. Need to get to public transport at a certain time, fine. We're 5-0 up or 5-0 down, fine.

But when you're 1-0 up in the 80th minute in a league that's renowned for late minute drama it seems really odd to leave. Especially when we're giving the ball away as much as we were at that time. Yes some people have reasons. Most just want to avoid the crowd which is fair but you leave just before the final whistle surely? They used to show the game on all the TVs where everyone goes at half time which was good when you wanted to leave early. But still I dont get it you wait every week to watch your team then leave when you're still fighting in the 80th minute? It's even more bizarre IMO when people leave to get a beer at the 35th minute.

Another no no was also brought up which is standing in seating area. Yes the atmosphere is great when you're stood but it is frustrating when you want to sit but a few assholes ruin it for everyone. If you want to stand either get the back row or go in the Northam dont just stand in the middle of Itchen.

People who get pissy when you try and get to your seat and they have to stand. Or people who instead just shuffle their feet to the side. Yeah I'm 35 rows up trying to tip toe along and you cant be assed to stand up and sit down. **** me. If you're old I get it but some people are just lazy.

Leaving early didn't do some motorists any good I heard tales of people taking two hours to get out of the City!

I park 15-20 minutes walk away and don't get stuck in any traffic at all.

Yeah if you park at cineworld and get out on the final whistle you should be good. Never taken me more than an hour to drive back.

You would think Red Funnel could reschedule their sailings for midweek matches??? Or perhaps they have to sail at that time or else they lose their place in the queue of ships entering and crossing the Solent.
