That's fair enough. I was having a go at people leaving early just to beat the traffic. I accept that some people have good reasons for leaving early. Most people though, just want to get home earlier.
JSB you should have kept that clip back until Halloween. I am still trembling with fear thinking that she was back. That woman sure as hell frightened me so goodness knows what she would do to our young children today.
I would turn this the other way round and say what I hate is when we are told referees are going to clamp down on diving, clamp down on imaginary card waving, clamp down on the surrounding, clamp down on shirt pulling in the box...............then they apply those rules for 1 weekend before returning to the usual leniency. I watched the Argentina Brazil friendly the other weekend and it was disgusting how Neymar and his team mates were surrounding the referee. They were barging into the ref, properly pushing him, banging into him with their chests. He was having to back peddle and was ending up 20 yards from where he was...............yet he did nothing about it. And that was a friendly. I think if that all of the above should be cracked down upon and they should continue with it afterwards.
My football no no are fans that support a "big" team as well as their own. Many people would ask me when we were in the lower leagues who my premier team was, and I honestly answered that I didn't give a **** about the premier league or any other team. The situation here in Mallorca is terrible, I'd say that even the people that go to matches, bar a few hundred "ultras", support Barca or Madrid. Every time I went in bars when Mallorca were in la liga playing either team practically everybody in the bar supported Barca or Madrid.
Well in this case, those people he didn't want to keep waiting needed to understand him. They should have encouraged him to sit in his seat an extra 10 minutes after the game and take his time getting to the car. Poor fella missed some of the game just because some others made him feel the need to head out early. Hope they weren't supposed to be mates.
The only reason for leaving early would be if they had a one-off event to go to and decided they didn't want to miss the game and tried to do both. Leaving early to beat traffic, not keep people waiting, etc is ludicrous. The "leaving the seat" issue is not just the end of the game either; leaving thirty minutes into the game for a beer is bonkers.
I find it strange that people will miss part of a match (especially when we are playing so well) to get a beer...some people act as if beer is not available anywhere else apart from football stadia. Better to enjoy the match surely and then chew the fat in the pub afterwards.
I think you need to find a place with better beer! I confess many years ago to being an early leaver at times. I go less often now so that, and a less frantic approach to life, means I often wait until the rush to exit is over then lurch slowly out. Try practicing patience at the checkout in Tescos on pension day, works for me.
If they didn't put the bloody sprinklers on at half time I wouldn't have to dash to the lavatory. Ok I'll take dash out of that sentence and replace it with struggle.
Pensions are paid on any day automatically into bank accounts now, so such queues should soon be a thing of the past However, you are right about patience. I just stare into space in a queue (even before I was a pensioner)...in general, time isn't of the essence and the longest queue in a supermarket is rarely longer than 5 mins. Now the queue at the ticket office!!!
Amazed that you would make judgement without knowing any of the facts. The reason he left early was that he didn't want to be a burden to the rest of the group [family, not mates] and felt by leaving slightly early he could still manage to support the team he had watched since childhood. Shame on you if older supporters cause you that much inconvenience.
I don't know why people have a problem with the concept of "beating the traffic". If I leave 30 secs before the final whistle it literally saves me 20 to 30 minutes on my travel time. That to me is a good return on missing 30 secs of a game. Also, if I do leave early, I always wait until the ball is out of play before disturbing people for what, about 2 secs. Really, the fact that people object to being disturbed for 2 secs incredibly intolerant. You may say, why is that 30 minutes so important? Well, I would say the same about those 2 secs. As I said above, how come everyone jumps on this bandwagon but no-one is bothered about people who stand the whole game thereby forcing others who may not wish to stand to do so? How come that is excusable but asking someone to stand for a couple of secs when the ball is out of play is somehow deemed one of the biggest no-no's in football.
On the early leaving front I had just posted this on the EPL thread:- "We have gone over this ad nauseam, there are many reasons for leaving early, but mostly to beat the rush after the final whistle, especially if you need to get home using public transport e.t.c. or have a weak bladder, or have youngsters that you don't want crushed, this is a football stadium not a prison where you have to serve the whole of your sentence. If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is intolerance". I sit on the end of a row and do get a bit hacked off at having to get up and down several times during the game, but they don't do it just to annoy me, they all have good reason for doing what they do.
