Why wait? Former Manchester United and England captain Rio Ferdinand has stated his intention to retire from professional football at the end of the season. The QPR defender told Jonathan Ross in an interview that will be broadcast on Saturday evening that he expects to hang up his boots at the end of the season.
Saw a rumour he was going to go in January. Presumably when we buy Chris Samba back for £12m to save our season.
That is OK, Stan cause we will sell him back to the Russians for the same price at the end of the season
I must hold my hands up and admit that I wrong about Rio. I thought he would be a good signing and I was impressed by his words when he signed. I'm not impressed at all now and I fear he has totally used us!
The most damning thing I can say about him is this... Cos of a ticket problem I was late into your match at our pkace in august so I did not hear the teams...I did not know he was playing for you lot until I saw the highlights on motd2
So what was the point of us signing him? Did I read earlier in the week that he was injured? And there was me thinking even Harry had seen the light and given him the chance to recharge his batteries.
As someone who believed that his signing would be a welcomed addition to the club, I'm yet again dismayed at complete lack of regard towards the club. I had hoped that he could make a significant impact on the club ................todate, he has failed miserably. Why, when we are lacking confidence, rhythm and direction make such a statement. Why not wait till later in the year in hope of not destabilizing the club even further. This act of selfishness proves that he has little care for our club. He has lacked any fight to help us when we need it the most. He mentions tv punditry, he mentions possible coaching, he's just put out a book, he mentions anything and everything EXCEPT wanting to help the club fight our way out of the bottom three. The player has little regard for our club for we are merely a minute convenience for him till his future is soughted.
A salutory lesson in signing high-profile players at the end of their careers. There was another one in Rome earlier in the week when Bayern smashed five first-half goals against Roma for whom Ashley Cole was skinned by Arjen Robben to the extent he was subbed at half-time. TF allegedly blocked the Rio transfer but relented for whatever reason, another example of a man who just can't stop making the wrong decisions...
Exactly this. I'd also like to say that should we lose on Monday, our season is as good as over, so maybe just maybe he'll retire on Tuesday
